Likely the best adjustable gas block on the market

Written on Apr 14, 2026

The fit and finish of the gas block is exceptional. As others have said, you will need to buy their straight gas tube to make this work. I ordered the 4.8 inch model as I am using a 12.6" hand guard. There is a sizing tool that's fairly accurate on the manufacturer's website. I won't get into the adjustments, but the item comes with two plungers, a standard one and a more restrictive one. If you buy the gas tube, you will have two assembly roll pins. There are two methods to affix the block to your barrel. One method is a pin which will require modification to the barrel and the other is two set screws. With a 12.6" hand guard, the control knob sticks out roughly two inches. The only thing I would change from an engineering standpoint is a more positive clicking detent. You can buy an assortment of control knobs from their website for about $80-90 apiece. I believe Opticsplanet carries them too.

Light weight option for a flash hider taper mount for the Griffin Armament Paladin 5

Written on Feb 29, 2024

I ordered two of these for AR15 uppers, I had issues with the suppressor getting stuck on the flash hider and having to buy the tool to remove it in a vise. I recommend buying the $20 tool from Griffin Armament's website since it doesn't look like Optics Planet sells them. I have one gripe about these. I didn't find the QPQ finish all that durable. They wear easily when installing with the proper 30lbs of torque. Since it's stainless steel, you can't cold blue them, you'll have to touch up with high-temp engine paint. You might want to run some rock set or red locktite so the mount doesn't screw off with the suppressor. You will not be able to separate the two pieces without the tool, trust me, I tried. I like these because they're light weight, but I still hear the tuning fork ring despite the claim that they don't resonate. I would buy the closed tine version if I had to do it all again or get a comp model instead if I wasn't worried about the extra weight.

Very good optic for the money

Written on Oct 16, 2023

I do like that the battery life is north of 40k hours. I do like the reticle, but there are some distracting visual artifacts in some lighting conditions. There are four reticles to choose from which is very cool, especially at the price point. The emitter creates a halo effect at certain brightness levels and there's a strange reflection in the glass that I find to be somewhat distracting. I would recommend this optic to those that are Predator movie franchise fans and those that prefer green dot sights.

Good sharp blade but not without drawbacks

Written on Oct 16, 2023

The grind on my blade came uneven/asymmetrical. The blade was sharp and the lockup is good, but the action is quite stiff and difficult to deploy with the thumb hole out of the box. The grivory handles feel cheap, but they're lightweight. All in all, I do recommend this blade, but he Ritter Hogue that I own is far superior in every way.

Well built but not without flaws

Written on Nov 09, 2018

Installed on an FN 509 Tactical. This is a great optic for co-witnessing with suppressor height sights. The 3.25 MOA dot is just the right size. If you hold both buttons for a fraction of a second you will enable automatic brightness which works very well. I did have some issues with parallax, but I believe with a little training I can learn to work around it. The nice thing about having suppressor height sights is that if the optic fails you'll still be on target. On my other guns I run an RMR without co-witness and I'm still on target. The co-witness reveals how if your head isn't directly in line with the pistol, the dot dances around a bit (parallax), however, the shots were still on target just not a tight grouping. I feel the RMR is faster than irons and with a little training you can compensate for the the parallax issue.

Built like a tank wide open field of view

Mounted this optic on my rifle, impressed with brightness settings and tight controls. The adjustments have easy access and the .05x magnification all the reviews complained about was not an issue for me, the both eyes open operation works well.

Great reflex sight for milled pistol slides

Written on Sep 09, 2018

Excellent finish function and low profile mounting for the fnx45 tactical pistol. The glass is good quality and the brightness and battery life specifications exceeded my expectations. Since Trijicon resolved the battery contact issue you can rest assured that the reticle won't fail when your life depends on it.

More durable trigger return spring

Written on Jun 24, 2018

This part completes the beretta spring swap to the chrome silicone variety. When installing it helps to use a paperclip with a 45 bend at the end to hold the spring forward as you insert the trigger bar. These springs aren't any lighter than OEM, but rather less prone to breakage.

OEM factory quality from Sig

Written on Jun 24, 2018

The barrel looked more gray than black until it was wiped down with oil and thoroughly cleaned. Once installed this barrel was a perfect match in color to the m11a1. This is a great option to convert a threaded barrel model or a more carry friendly model.

Great additions to the beretta centurion

Written on May 04, 2018

I installed the fluted recoil rod and spring, flat wire springs and the gun functions flawlessly with standard ammunition and +P. It's a quality kit, but the flutes are somewhat shallow. The greatest benefit is 10s of thousands of rounds of trouble free operation.
