I’m a fan. I run different rings on different rifles but these are my favorites. Have these on a 300 win mag and two 6.5 Creedmoors. They lock down, line up, and stay put. No lapping. I think they look great but some might find them a little bulky. That’s going to be a personal preference. Now… I ordered two sets and one looked a little scraped up, like it had been mounted before. But I’d say that’s an Optics Planet issue, not a vortex issue. Speaking of, the vortex customer service lives up to all the hype. So there’s that.
I ordered 2 sets and neither had any tape or decal sealing the factory product packaging. This is relevant because one of the two sets looked like it had clearly been used. It’s hard to scrape the black coating on these things and there were noticeable scrapes on both rings that looked like a scope had been mounted or shifted in the rings. So I’m returning that set. That’s an Optics Planet issue. On to the product. I like these rings. This is my second time using them to mount a scope (or third if you include a set of the identical Seekins precision rings I’ve used). They seem to live up to the claim that there’s no need for lapping — vortex actually cautions against lapping these rings. I use the Wheeler alignment tools to check alignment and once they’re locked down to the pic rail, sure enough, they line up perfectly.
