Fast and easy

Written on Jul 07, 2020

Added this to my FAB Defense AR-15 Survival Buttstock w/Built-in Mag Carrier. Super easy install with nice fitment. The extendable pod is a tiny bit sloppy but with a push of the side mounted button, the aluminum pod extends to just under 3" with a snap. It can be shortened by pushing the retaining mechanism, then selecting the desired length. At full extension there is also a aluminum screw out adjustment to make it a full length of 6" with a rubber mounted base. The mono pod fully retracts into the buttstock and does not interfere or cause hangups with clothing or sling. This buttstick does add a little over 1.5" to the end of the stock but can be adjusted out using the sliding buttstock. It does have the standard Fab Defense rubber shoulder pad and quick attachment mounts on both sides.

Nice addition

Fitment/adjustment is a little tight but with that you have no play or rattle. Attachment fairly easy either by using a pin or small screw driver to hold the slide/adjustment pin down by inserting into the hole on top of the stock or, by pulling down on the rear of the slide adjustment lever. This will retract the adjustment pin far enough to mount on the stock tube. Extra 10 round mini mag fits nicely into the rear of the stock and will accept larger round mags as well. Mounted the FAB Defense MBA Mono-Pod Buttstock which adds about 1.5" to the end of the buttstock but can use slide adjustment to compensate. Over all well worth the mod.

Excellent addition

Very easy to install with perfect and tight fitment, light weight and ease of operation. Installs with included allen wrench by separation of the forward part of the bipod gripping the front part of the Tavor Grip. The rear just snaps into the bottom of the grip after removing the bottom of the gun grip. All plastic but mounts tightly with no gaps or movement with push button deployment. Takes about 3 minutes to install. Does not interfere with operation but does add aprox 1" to the bottom of the grip. Very stable and sturdy platform for the Tavor as it also allows to free up space normally utilized or taken up by a forward mounting bipod. Works well even with a 30 round Mag. Excellent addition and recommended.

not bad for the money but ...

First point, about the folding hinge...out of the box the hinge was very hard (tight) unlock from the open position. Even after mounting I was unable to unlock the brace until I dismounted from the rail. You have to push down on the top of the hinge to unlock from the open position. I couldn't see any reason for the tightness but with a small amount of trimming with a dremel in a few key areas and some more lube I was able to loosen it enough to operate by hand without using a piece of wood to push on the hinge. Second point, about the size of the hinge that protrudes down from the pivot point (bottom of hinge) kind of gets in the way when your hand is on the gun grip. (Im my case an Ruger PC Charger) but it can be raised up on the gun rail mount a bit. I ended up mounting the brace upside down so it would fold the other way (to right of the PC Charger) to put the protruding part of the hinge facing up but then you have to get used to activating the folding mechanism the opposite way. The arm brace part pivots anyway so it just flips over to work either way. Third point, the folding arm part...this part is a hard plastic and not aluminum but seems to be super strong and does not flex or bend. There is also a threaded end cap that will allow the arm brace end to be removed if desired. It is not a very comfortable or stable brace but it serves its function.
