I like the idea of the red "ring" sight for my tactical shotgun. So I bought the redding, not realizing they expect you to put it on a traditional shotgun with the guide bar running down the barrel. When I realized I had to buy the adapter I was irritated, but went for it. The adapter does "work" to mount the redring on a picatinny rail which I have done on my M4, but it definitely does not inspire confidence. There is no way to adjust the angle of the site to line up with the bore, now that this adapter has raised the redding a full inch higher than it was designed to be. I ended up kind of mounting the redring at an angle so the darn thing would be accurate at 10 yards. Going to take to the range, but even if I do get it sighted in, I have ZERO confidence it will maintain its zeroing. Heck under mild tactical training, I would expect the whole redring sight to fall off at some point during the day.

-1 for being a hack of a mount to begin with
-1 for ability to adjust the height or angle of the mount to zero the now much taller sight
-1 for the price for what you get
-1 for the low confidence I have that the sight will stay on with any activity.

I might use the redring on a non-tactical shotgun for bird hunting but... not with this adapter.
