AimPoint equivalent budget price.

Written on Jul 26, 2016

One of my favorite red dot sights to date. Great value as it comes with the mount, scope covers and a basic magnifier. The Vortex magnifier is better of course but the included one is not half bad.

Battery life is excellent and the setup held held zero after 400+ rounds of 308 Win.

Great Optic for the price.

Written on Dec 03, 2015

Most optics like the Konus M30 are at least double the cost. That being said it is not on par with Nightforce or Leupold so don't set that expectation. The 1x is clear and that is maintained though to 4x. The zoom adjustment is smooth and not to stiff and the torrents are nice and positive.

It is apparent on my scope that the center dot is illuminated from one side as the brightness fades to the other. It is not very bright but will work fine in low light conditions. This is the only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars.

I cannot speak to durability as I have only run a hundred or so rounds through it so far, but it has maintained zero with no issues.

Excellent Laser Light Combo.

Written on Oct 30, 2015

I am not usually a fan of Laser/Light combos as usually the Laser or the Light are of poor quality(anything sub $150). The Truglo TG7650G is an excellent buy for the money.
First off the quick release is perfect. It clamps down nice and tight without sticking out just waiting to snag on everything. Next are the controls; the toggle switch is rubber covered to keep out water and the large activation switch is easy to access without getting in the way. Battery access is very easy to actuate (no micro screws to loose).

The green laser is very bright, day or night and that is to be expected. The light is very bright with a nice outer spread and central beam. Most of my flashlights utilize the CR123A batteries so they are my preference anyway. Construction is solid and does not feel cheap in any way, did I mention how awesome the mounting latch is?

Excellent Budget Scout Scope!

Written on Mar 30, 2015

I wanted to install a scout scope setup on my Mosin Nagant. I had a spare fixed power 6x scope that made closer shots more challenging than fun. I opted for Simmones Prohunter 2-6x scope in matte black. For the money you cannot get a clearer scope! My Mosin is not a 1000 yard sub MOA rifle there fore why spend more?

The variable magnification makes close and long shots far easier that the original rough military sites.
Its a very tough little scope designed for magnum level recoil, the 30-06 kick is no big deal.
Eye relief is perfect for the scout mount location and it's far better quality than the cheap Mosin Scopes on fleabay.
Fit and finish are excellent, turrets are precise and positive on each click.

There are cheaper options out there, they are no where near as nice though.
