Quality Bipod
Written on Jun 23, 2026
High quality and sturdy bipod especially at this price point. The picatinny quick mount lever is easy to use and stays solidly attached. Leg extensions are one hand operation. My only complaint is that I can't get the locking nut tight enough to hold cant. It's not as bad as other bipods I've used but 3 or 4 shots with my 300PRC knock my rifle and scope out of level.

Vortex Precision Matched Rifle Scope Rings
This is my second set of Vortex matched scope rings. Vortex says they are precisely matched and there is no need to lap. Since I already had the tools and materials, I lapped the rings anyway. I found this set to be very slightly offset (not necessarily a problem with the rings) but took very little lapping to get them perfectly aligned. The rings and scope have not budged after 120 rounds of 300PRC's.

Simple but effective

The Aero Precision adjustable gas block is my "go to" gas block for all of my AR's that I shoot suppressed. It is simple, effective, and easy to dial in after just a few test rounds. I've tried more sophisticated and expensive gas blocks with mixed results. I'm sticking with the Aero from here on.

Hornady G3 1500 DIGITAL SCALE
Having spent a fair amount of time in a refinery lab, I should have known that you aren't going to get a precision electronic scale for $83 and I really didn't expect extreme accuracy. But I did expect reasonable consistency. Unfortunately, the G3 1500 exhibits quite a bit of drift i.e. weigh the same powder in the pan three times and get three different results. Getting a variance of 3 or 4 tenths of a grain might not be a big deal for a lot of hand loaders, but I need something better for long range precision. I love Hornady and their products, and don't blame them for falling short of my expectations on this scale. It works fine for what it is and what it cost.

My new favorite red dot

I bought the MO3 to go with my new Canik TTi Combat 9mm pistol. To my surprise, the MO3 has a huge sight window, easy to access top loading battery compartment, and very easy to use elevation/windage Torx head adjustment screws. It also looks great on my full size Canik pistol. The MO3 works great, is feature packed, and you can get it from OP for less than half the cost of most high end red dot sights

My new favorite red dot
Written on Jan 19, 2025
I've tried almost all of the most popular, highly rated red dot sights. They are all reliable, work well, but many lacking in ease of use and effective features. Most are way over priced. I ordered the Mechanic MO3 only because I recently acquired the Canik TTi Combat 9mm pistol and it seemed that this optic was made with that pistol in mind. To my pleasant surprise, the MO3 is packed full of effective features. For starters it has a huge 29mm x 24mm field of view, so you get a great sight picture without looking like you bolted a toaster to the top of your slide. It has a sleek and slim appearance that looks great on my pistol. Next, it has an easy to use top entry battery compartment so you don't have to unmount and remount your optic for battery change. The buttons are large and easy to use with a positive click. Last but not least, it comes with an elevation/windage Torx adjustment tool that fits tightly in the adjustment screws. You can insert the tool and release it and it stays in place. It may not sound like a big deal, but try making elevation/windage adjustments with a tiny flathead screwdriver (like you get with just about all other red dots) in a dimly lit indoor shooting range stall. Best of all, you can buy it from OP for less than half the cost of many high end red dots. I already bought a second Mecanik for another pistol and will likely buy a third one whenever I acquire my next handgun.

This is a great flashlight/laser combo. The laser shares the same housing with the flashlight which keeps the unit very compact and streamlined. The 1500 lumen flashlight is super bright but can easily be set to a lower power with the touch of a button to preserve the battery. The ability to change from flashlight only, to laser only, or to flashlight and laser combo is a nice feature plus it's quick and easy to use. My only criticism is the quick detach/attach feature. It's a nice idea that you can easily remove the flashlight for recharging or maybe you just need a flashlight and not the gun. Unfortunately, when the flashlight is locked into the mounting bracket, there's a fair amount of play in the mounting hardware. Not a big deal if you're only using the flashlight, but a pretty big deal if you're using the laser at a range of about 25 yards and beyond. There are two set screws in the mounting plate that take out all the play in the mounting hardware and they are effective at keeping your laser zero'd at your desired range. However, when the set screws are tight, they stay tight and the quick detach feature is no longer functional. So if you want to remove the flashlight, you unlock the bracket, loosen the set screws, and detach the unit. When you re-attach and retighten the set screws, it's not likely the unit will be in the same exact position so you'll have to re-zero the laser.

Great product

Easy to mount, easy to use, and very bright. I bought the Streamtlight TLR-1 to mount near the muzzle of my CMMG Banshee (AR style pistol with 10" barrel) knowing that it was primarily designed for a handgun. Never the less, it still looks and works great on my Banshee with the only issue being the activation switch is a bit cumbersome for the type of gun I'm using. I still give it 5 stars because the switch is designed to straddle the front of the trigger guard on a handgun where it will be easy to manipulate with your trigger finger on the right side or left thumb on the left side.

Tipton Best Gun Vise
I didn't have the highest expectations for the Tipton Best Gun Vise considering the price and only wanted something simple to secure my rifles and shotguns for cleaning. Unfortunately, the rubberized pivoting disks and locking cams that are supposed to clamp your gun securely in place have way too much flex to hold most of my rifles without a lot of movement. I will see if I can modify or replace the pivoting disks with something more secure, and if I'm not successful will probably pitch the whole rig. Shop space is too valuable for a large item of very limited use.

Great product

Fits great, works great, and looks great. My only complaint, so far, about my new Ruger Precision rifle is the bolt shroud. The Anarchy Outdoors is a vast improvement that lives up to the high standards of the rifle. The bolt operates more smoothy and the shroud looks great. One word of warning for those who are considering ordering this shroud from OP is to be aware that Anarchy offers two different types of shrouds for short action bolts. There is a shroud for the old style firing pin and a different one for the new style firing pin. Ruger changed the firing pin design a few years ago and the photos for this product shows the two different types of firing pins. The two shrouds are not interchangeable so I'm guessing any 1 star reviews with complaints that it doesn't fit probably means the wrong shroud was ordered. OP's descriptions for the various options are clear about color, fluting, and materials but makes no mention (at least not that I could find) of the old vs. new firing pins. The only clue is in the SKU code that includes the word "NEW" for the shrouds that fit the new style firing pin. Also, neither type of these shrouds will fit a Ruger Precision chambered in magnum rounds such as the 338 Lapua, but the magnum shrouds are available as a separate item on OP's site.
