In Response to "Lars's Review"

Written on Nov 23, 2018

Sorry bro, but you can't blame the scope for POI shifts when you change ammo. That's going to happen no matter what any time you change ammo. The scope has nothing to do with that. That's why you re-zero per the ammo you're using. It's not the scopes job, it's yours. If the "adaptability" issue is your only issue with the scope, might I suggest you change your 4 star review to a 5? Give these guys the credit they deserve for building an awesome 22LR scope that's under $120.

Midwest Has The #1 Customer Service!

Written on Jun 05, 2018

Ok you guys, it's my time to weigh in. I love MI because they make awesome after market parts at a competitive rate; their customer service is second to none, and all their products are made in the USA! So now for the drawbacks of this particular rail...don't get me wrong, I like it, it's just that there are better lock up systems out there. Yes you will have to pay for them, but in the end it's probably better to do it once the right way than to go back after you've already spent a bunch of money on other stuff. Buy once cry once right?!

Ok so, MI is the best, I sometimes give them business solely based on how well they've done for me in the past. Long story, but trust me, they stand by their products. That said, the lock up on this rail is good but not great. The more you get into building, the more you start to notice the little things, and though this may sound like a little thing, it actually is a big thing. Check the lock up apparatus on the DD, BCM, and Guissele rails...they blow this system out of the water. Best bang for buck in that category is probably the BCM. That's my bet for my next built. The most secure lock up likely goes to the DD, but it's $400. You see in the firearms world, you get what you pay for.

I still buy MI stuff. Got a ton of their qd mounts (which are awesome) along with a bunch of other things. I'm PRO-MI, just saying for a hand guard, there are better. More expensive for sure, but better. Look into it.

Not bad; Not good..

Written on Feb 07, 2018

This magnifier is definitely tough and built like a tank, but suffers a few drawbacks. The first drawback is that it doesn't flip out of the way. Yes that's right, THIS IS A STATIONARY MAGNIFIER! I bought it thinking it was a flip magnifier and when I got it in I was painfully mistaken. Thank goodness for OP's return policy! I was able to send it back and get something different. Ok, so the good things about this magnifier are that it is very well built and the glass quality is very good. The bad things are that it doesn't flip out of the way, the eye relief is terrible (think ACOG), and it's pricey. I wouldn't buy this magnifier again because really what's the point of a non-flip magnifier? Might as well just get a fixed power prism scope. Good quality here though, if you don't mind that it doesn't flip.

This is a set (comes with 2)

Written on Dec 19, 2017

Just in case you didn't know (and I didn't), this is a set of two pins. I bought two sets just in case. Anderson Manufacturing manufactures quality gun parts for a good price. I have a bunch of their buffer tubes and other ins and outs type parts. This set of Trigger and Hammer pin work great. I have no complaints. Remember this is a set of two pins, so you only need to buy one per build. I know the picture is confusing because it only shows one pin. Happy building!

Best AR-15 Trigger I've Squeezed!

Written on Dec 19, 2017

Get it! You won't be disappointed. Everything you want in a great trigger. No take-up, light/crisp break, short/positive reset. Amazing really. Great job Timney Triggers for this one. I will buy this again if I need to do another build.

Upper Receiver Vice Block Clamp

Written on Dec 19, 2017

Great deal for a clamp PLUS a throw-in gas tube alignment tool. TBH I wasn't even expecting the alignment tool...it was totally a bonus! I'd buy this again all day long. Great tool at an affordable price.

Trigger Upgrade

Written on Sep 07, 2017

This was definitely an upgrade for my VEPR FM-AK47-11. The stock trigger on that thing was GROSS! That said, this trigger is the exact opposite of that. Thank God for companies like ALG Defense who will come up with options for this platform. The trigger pull on this baby is a little light especially if you have it installed on an AK-47. It might be doable without modification on a 74, but that's up to the shooter. I ended up using the little spring it came with to add an additional 10-11oz to the pull, and also picked up on of ALG's "High Energy Main Springs" from their website. It's a $10 part and well worth the addition. Of course you can run this trigger without any of these things, I just wouldn't recommend it. For me I feel the lightness of the trigger without the additional pull lbs could possibly give me unwanted double taps, and for safety reasons, I don't want that. But to each his/her own. The only reason I give this a 4 star and not a 5 star review is that the trigger sits back a little far back in the pocket in my gun. Not sure if it will in every rifle, in fact, I'm sure it probably won't...these are AK's after all. None are exactly the same! Just know that if you're buying this for the Molot VEPR FM-AK47-11, it will be a bit of a reach backward for your finger to engage the trigger. I don't really like this, but it doesn't effect the overall quality or utility of the trigger, so I'm still going to recommend this puppy. To me, it's a comfort thin

Mount is quality, and sits low but...

Written on Jun 27, 2017

If you're thinking about using this mount for what it was made for (running a variable power scope; 1-4x, 1-6x, 1-8x, etc) you won't be able to clear the dust cover with the rear of your scope. This means you have to run the scope REALLY FAR back on the rifle. Unfortunately, this messes with your eye relief, and doesn't allow you to "get up on" the rifle. You have to almost lean back to get proper eye relief. I guess if you use a really small/skinny variable power scope, this might be avoidable, but I tried using this mount with my Primary Arms 1-8 ACSS, and my Vortex Viper PST 1-4x, and neither of them worked on my 7.62x54r 20" VEPR AK. This mount is quality, well constructed, light, and sit's low on the rifle...just doesn't go well with modern variable power scopes.

Great Magnifier!

Written on Jun 26, 2017

Very clear, well built, and lifetime warranty. Can't ask for much more. Can't beat it for the money. A little heavy, but most 3x magnifiers are...not exactly sure why. Highly recommended though. Pretty much can put this behind any red dot.

HS510C-Sick! (In a good way)

Written on Mar 09, 2017

Awesome optic. My favorite red dot sight...and I have more than one. That says a lot. Absolute co-witness on the integrated QD mount. Can't beat this without spending 2x the money. Buy without reservation. Running this on my AR-15, but since the 65 MOA circle is the approx spread of 00 Buck at 25 yards, I could mount this baby to a shotty! Very nice dot WITH 3 DIFFERENT RETICLES! Super cool.
