My first Holosun but not my first MRD site. Have not shot the site yet, just mounted it on the pistol.
Overall I like it.
I really like the Green color because it is so easy to see. The dot and circle are crisp even with my astigmitisum.
I like the 10 minute sleep time frame and the Shake Awake feature that conserves the battery. The Go-To-Sleep time is adjustable.
I was debating buying this HE508 or the larger window HE507COMP. After mounting it, I feel the window could be bigger. I probably will get the HE507COMP as well.
Some cons are:
None of the eight, #6-32 screws they sent were long enough. They only were catching three threads in my slide. I made custom length screws for my peace of mind.
The buttons are too difficult to access because they are flat with the housing and are quite small for my old hands.
The battery is almost dead when I got it. The Low Battery warning is when the reticle starts to blink. It started blinking two hours after turning it on. I hope it is a low battery and not a defective site.
IMHO....The Auto Brightness feature changes the intensity too much at one time and too abruptly. It is not a smooth linear change from one intensity to another. It does work though.
I have a bunch of these levers and I love them. The folding lever type are the only ones to buy. The non-folders stick out too far and get hit too easialy and hang on things too easily. You want a folding lever type.
Optics Planet is my number one source for gun and optics stuff. Never had an issue with them in about 15 years.
I have this grip on a few other hard kicking revolvers and it works great on them. The full covered back starp area really knocks the felt recoil down on hard kicking magnums and light aluminum revolvers. Grip girth is just slightly larger than a standard OEM S&W Combat MonoGrip. Unfortunately this particular grip does not fit my M610-3 very good. Not as good as the other S&W revolvers I have the same grip on. Maybe this M610-3 frame is a little off spec.. The grip is not loose when the screw is tight but there is some clearance against the top of the backstrap that is not typical on the other S&W revolvers I have this same grip on. I will accept it as it is.
These rings look great and I'm sure they will work fine but............. I'm somewhat disappointed in the way the very narrow recoil cross bot/lug engages with the Picatinny rail slot. The cross bolt screw is rather narrow and as a result affords a great deal of slop (fore and aft) when sliding on a Mil-Spec Picatinny rail. I tried it on seven different Mil-Spec rails. I don't understand why Nightforce allows that much slop. I expected them to fit the rail lugs very precisely and snug with little slop fore and aft. I was wrong. The huge amount of clearance between the cross bolt and the Pic rail slot defeats the the fact the rings are very wide (.960")......... which I do like.
What this boils down to is.......you do get better scope tube grip from the six screws but the rail recoil grip is no different than a typical standard 5/8" wide Picatinny Mil-Spec rail ring using a similar cross bolt attachment. They look great but don't work any better than a standard Mil-Spec Picatinny ring. Your spending about $70.00 more just for looks and getting nothing more to hold the scope any better to the rail than a typical Pic ring.
These are heavy duty swivels and look just like Magpul swivels. The FDE Cerakote finish looks great too. The bails are very heavy just like Magpuls. Fit and finish is great. It's nice to have a color option on swivels now.
I like the intent of the design (steel) but the single locking screw does not allow enough clamping force for the somewhat narrow width of the adapter to give me a good feeling about hanging a heavy rifle from the adapter. The single clamping screw head does incorporates both a Flat Head slot and an Allen hex drive but the Allen is easily stripped because it is so small. If the single screw used a larger Allen head................I'd feel much better about it. This one should work fine for a light rifle. I prefer slightly wider adapters which use two Torx type screws to clamp the Pic rail.
Blue Force Gear slings are great. I have three different types.
This padded one makes carrying a heavy weapon much easier all day. The Quick Adjust feature works better than I expected. The Red Swivel is easy to grab and release the rifle or switch to a Single Point carry.
Expensive but these slings are worth it.
These swivels are difficult to release from their cups. I have to pull hard to extract them from the cup even with the button fully depressed. I believe the problem lies with the swivel itself and not the cup. Magpul and other swivels fit and extract just fine in the Blackhawk cups. Also........These are not as heavy duty or appear as nice as Magpul swivels. I consider these 'Light Weight' swivels because the bail is much thinner than a Magpul. Because they are hard to separate...............some may feel that is a GOOD thing. I consider it a Pain In The Azz.
