Easier revolver reloads

Written on Apr 30, 2024

I was turned on to these 8-round cartridge strips by the great instructor Greg Ellifritz. I'd been using 6-rounders when I showed up to his revolver class, but the 8-rounders are a better way. It's not necessarily just because they hold more cartridges, though.

The longer strip allows you to load 2-space-2-space-2. This gives a place to put a finger between the rounds, which makes loading faster, easier and less prone to fumbling. This is completely worth the extra length of the strip versus a 6-rounder, where you'd load 2-space-3 or even 2-space-2.

One thing about the name of these excellent items, though. TUFF calls them QuickStrips. Bianchi, who I'm pretty sure invented them, calls them Speed Strips. They're not quick and they're not speedy, at least not when compared to a speed loader. But they're MUCH easier and more concealable to carry in a pocket or in a belt pouch, and they're easier to reload than loose rounds or even from a 2x2x2 pouch. Galco probably has the right idea in calling their version EZ Loaders.

Anyway, these 8-rounders are a major upgrade from the older, lower-capacity versions, again largely because they're easier to manipulate. I now use them exclusively, whether for a 5- or 6-round revolver. Highly recommended for the revolver guys out there!

Perfect for what it is

Written on Apr 28, 2024

No, it's not a full-on safe or a biometric bedside defender. But for what it is, and for what I need, it's perfect.

I live in a small town with little crime and just need to keep my handguns away from my toddler granddaughter. This Stack-On works great for that. I can fit about ten normal-size handguns on the shelves (which are perfectly fine and sturdy), or a mix of guns and ammo. The unit is small enough to fit easily under the printer stand in my home office. The lock works smoothly and secures tightly, and the unit arrived quickly and in perfect condition.

This was an excellent purchase and I recommend it for those who don't need a big heavy safe.
