Best bang for the buck

Written on Sep 18, 2025

My Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX was a little picky on what rounds it would cycle reliably while I was breaking it in, and these were buttery smooth and priced right. Stocked up on these and haven’t had any issues.

Almost perfect

I came from the Surefire M340DFT. I loved the hot spot and throw, but missed the periphery flood. The Rein 3.0 is everything great about the Surefire Turbo series of lights, but with great flood as well. The only real downside is that this particular Rein 3.0 only has the option of coming with the constant on tape switch. I would have liked the option to have the dual tape switch or even just the momentary tape switch. I feel like the constant on tape switch is probably the least useful. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend this light if you are looking for the best all around duty rifle light.

A step up from the Surefire Turbo series

Written on Apr 09, 2024

Sold my Surefire M340DFT Pro and replaced it with this Rein 3.0. I was tired of not having the flood/spill needed to light up my backyard and surroundings. The Rein 3.0 doesn’t give up any throw compared to the Surefire and adds all the flood/spill that was missing from the M340DFT. Price (including the tapeswitch) was pretty comparable as well.

The only con I have is the tapeswitch included can’t do momentary only. It’s basically a clicky tailcap mounted on your rail. Enough use will make this a non-issue for me I bet, but worth noting. The switch was also a pain in the butt to install on the rail, though is doable if you take your time.

Overall, I’m very happy with the performance of the light and would buy another if I needed to.

Best single stage trigger for the AR platform

Written on Feb 16, 2023

I had previously owned a Hiperfire single stage trigger and thought that was great until I bought the Geissele SSP. It’s perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. If you like flat faced triggers and a nice crisp break on a single stage trigger, it doesn’t get any better than this.

Almost Perfect

I’ve tried numerous IR laser products over the years. Holosun LS321G, DBAL-i2, DBAL-A3, Surefire X400V to name a few. They each had their own individual pros and cons. None of them ever checked off all of the boxes for me. When the XVL2-IRC started to become available (and issue that is still a problem as I look at this product currently out of stock pretty much everywhere) I decided to swallow the admittedly high price in hopes of finding that unicorn products that covers all of the bases as a 4-in-1 unit (visible laser and light and IR laser and IR light) that didn’t weigh a pound and take up what’s left of the already small rail estate on my SBR.

First the pros:
-Super lightweight at a little over 5 oz.
-Super small compared to other laser units
-Easy to use activation methods. Using the paddles or buy buying the Surefire tape switches.
-I found the performance of the 4 modes to be satisfactory when acknowledging its design purpose. This isn’t meant to be a long range IR designation tool to call in air strikes or for use to illuminate 600+ yards.
-Battery changes don’t require you to remove the laser from your rail, making you rezero after every battery change like the X400V.

Now the single con in my eyes:
-The mode selector switch is sub par. Assuming that you’ll be adjusting it in the dark, it’s hard to know what mode it is currently in just by feeling it with your fingers. The selector wheel is pretty smooth (assuming it was meant to be this way to avoid snagging and

Great do it all optic

Yes it’s a lot of money. No it doesn’t cook you dinner. What it does do is give you outstanding glass quality/clarity in a bombproof package. Paired with an RMR, I believe it gives you the best of both worlds, and keep the compromises to a minimum. Would buy again.

Premium stock at a premium price

Written on May 08, 2018

There’s not a whole lot to say other than you get what you pay for with this stock. It’s super expensive, but it is worlds better than the UGG boot that it’s meant to replace. It’s one downfall is it’s cost, but if you can look passed that, it’s the best option out there. Fit and finish is top notch and adjustability is great. And let’s me honest, everyone likes the look of the ACR stock.
