Very nice scope for the price.

For the price, the Vortex Triumph HD 3-9x40 is a really nice scope. The glass is clear, the image is sharp, and having the rings included makes it an even better value.
I think this scope really shines at 100 yards and under. It can definitely reach beyond 100 yards, but for me, that’s where the 3-9x magnification starts to feel a little limited, especially when trying to see smaller targets or make more precise shots. For normal shooting inside 100 yards, though, it does the job very well.
I have one mounted on my Ruger 10/22 and another on my Marlin 45-70, and I’ve been very happy with both. If most of your shooting will be within 100 yards, I think this scope is hard to beat for the money.
