First I ordered a cheaper brand off Amazon to see if I would like how a Yaqui rides and functions. Chinese prison labor is not what it used to be, and I feel bad that some poor pangolin gave up his hide to make that thing. The Galco is better leather, better fitting, and the tension hardware works better. Definitely worth the small premium over the cheapies. I wanted my pistol to ride a little deeper so I totally removed the upper tension screw and insert. Even with that hardware removed, the Galco has pretty good retention for a Yaqui, and better than the other brand with both tension screws in place and adjusted. It rides slightly farther out than a pancake holster, but a 1911 is slim enough that it's a similar concealment profile to a double stack pistol in a pancake, which is good enough for an OWB holster. It's spectacular as a range holster when concealment is no concern and you just want a reasonably secure way to move around without setting your pistol down. As always, Optics Planet shipped quickly and it delivered in perfect shape.

I had ordered and returned another brand from another dealer, and the Galco is noticeably better fitting with more retention than you’d expect. I haven’t touched the adjustment screws yet so there is room to snug it up if it stretches over time. My Andrews is a thumb break pancake so this is a nice light alternative for my LW Commander.
