In My Own Words:

At 14 I had my first gunfights in woods where we weren't wanted by certain people. After 4 dogs shot and 1 of my dogs was stabbed, I started hunting the poachers and thieves. I drove them away and ended up on the survivalist path. I am a former Marine, Fast Attack Submariner, soldier-unit armourer and M60 machinegunner. I was FBI trained/certified as an L/E Academy Firearms Instructor & former government contractor. When I was first assigned to the FBI instructor class, I had a broken right ankle, which I hid and wrapped in my boot. The instructors identified my injury on the fourth day but allowed me to continue if I could pass, or return later. I finished the next weeks and passed. I developed defensive tactics based on a lifetime of studying and training in multiple martial arts and honed it working in 2 prisons/2 jails and u/c work. I have stopped 2 terrorist events, one domestically and one in W. Germany. A drunk driver caused my TBI disability/aneurism&constant migraines, sadly.

Heft and Serious Edge

Written on Feb 19, 2026

These bowies are awesome. The only caution is the high carbon steel, so keep oiled or use Renaissance Museum Wax for protection. The edges are great and the sheaths are top notch. I keep my 3 Svords with my Randalls, Katz and old school Cold Steel bowies.

One Incredible, Discreet True Double Edge Folder!

Written on Feb 09, 2026

I first of all took the all black option for concealment. The double edges are razor sharp as are the matching serrations. The length is an actual length of OVER 4'' blade to truly act as a concealed dagger when presented open. The handling is fast. light but tough and the flipper system is smooth and fast. I really got excited over this as soon as I came across it and really favor it as a back up, out of the way knife. This is a great buy! Go for it! Semper Fi, God Bless! Cujo

DROP THE STUPID BEANS

MOUNTAIN HOUSE IS NUMBER ONE! WHY must you add beans to a time tested Marine Corps Staple?

They Never Made Chili Mac With Beans AT Parris Island!!!!

Chili Mac is a high source of energy and protein at Parris Island and in the Corps! It DOES NOT HAVE FREAKING BEANS IN IT!

My Polish Paratrooper Likes 'Em, But My RPK Machinegun LOVES Them!

Written on Oct 26, 2025

Hey, Even back in the way early 2000s it was not easy nor cheap to get a real Romanian RPK Machinegun. The Polish underfolder Paratrooper AKM was not easy to find either. The RPKs have always worked best with 40 round mags, much better than the drum mags. Old Saddam Hussein's SF units used the RPKs as their issue rifles. I can see why. Heavier duty and perfect with an after market bipod, lapping honing inside the chamber and bore and cutting the rear sight channel deeper and a wee bit wider-then flat black paint to stop the glare. Might not be a Dragunov, but with iron sights it hits tennis balls on the deck at 350 yards! I improved my AKM and my Tokarev M57 pistol the same ways. All you need is a good magazine and it rocks! These are not only the best price 40 rounders but the best working I have had in decades! Well worth the price! I Love File Knives, This One Is Incredible!

Written on Oct 23, 2025

I love the strength of old files turned into knives. They usually have decades of tempering and make amazingly sharp and tough knives. This Anza Pig Slayer is incredible and the false edge on top is sharpened. The grip is great and the heavy leather sheath is a simple slip in, but does its job very well. The sheath easily fits a 1.75" belt. I would definitely put it in the category of one of the blades I would want in a tight spot outdoors! One heavy lanyard spike at the butt of the full tang blade also.

One Great and Discreetly Narrow to Pocket Carry, Etc.

Written on Oct 07, 2025

I have had this knife for over a decade, it is easy to get to a razor edge and takes the polish extra fine like only well made steel does. It sits so very deeply with its clip at the end of the handle and sits well back in the pocket very discreetly. It opens easily but not accidentally in the pocket-no reaching back out with a bloody finger! The blade has the kind of length I like to be quite capable of defensive use. I suppose my qualifiers as a good judge of a blade is first I was raised a country boy, using knives heavily on farms. I served in 3 branches, USMC/USN/ARMY, as a Government Contractor, Rescue and Recovery Diver, Deputy Cpl., L/E Academy Firearms Instructor, worked 2 jails and 2 prisons, martial artist since 5 y/o. The Dark Talon has been carried in pocket, in the waistband, attached to shoulder rigs, occasionally clipped inside jungle boots,(NOT my favorite place for a back up), and never failed. In comparison I also carry Emerson folders, Cold Steel-most especially Tai Pan Daggers, Randall Handmade, Mickey Yurco, AG Russell Customs, Ka-Bar, Katz, Benchmade, Gerber, Victorinox, GHK Knives (custom made special purpose knives/escape tools/and the most excellent file Bowies, Fred Perrin, Laci Szabo, SOG, American Tomahawk, Brend, and various special made shoulder carry knives and tomahawks that I have combined with handgun shoulder carry rigs from Colt Detective Special to Para Ordnance 1911, various .44 magnum revolvers and Glock pistols mostly nowadays for ease

If Only The NV Periscope On My Old M60A1 Tank Had Been So Clear!!!!

Written on Jul 14, 2025

I've had to use the OLD grainy,zero-depth perception night vision driving convoy point with all the worry of a stack of 50 ton tanks following me, white-knuckling it because you couldn't see clear enough to tell if what's ahead is a shadow,a deer or God Forbid,a fellow Marine stepping out in front of an old tank with crappy brakes. I later got to use some on occasion in the Navy-thought that was heaven, and even better in the Army. I got to see some great stuff later managing a great biz that supplied all gov't levels of L/E along with Public Safety/Ofc/and all public selling firearms and gear. I've worked for 3 L/E agencies,Govt Contractor and a Gov't-involved company's security-always wanting/being night shift. I bought and used my own NV I could afford,Gen 1 and Gen2. We know the fear of bright light burning out the tubes back then! Digital is so awesome and now so affordable! I've spent a ton of $$ and now I have a clear, beautiful image that I can even record onto disks that you literally can record an incident now and even with the fairly basic headset it includes you could save your butt if you were forced to defend yourself, DAY AND NIGHT! I've had a small digital Bushnell that also can record for a while now for bumps in the night, but even basic headsets, sans helmet, can record whatever you have to aim! Particularly for the price, these binos are a winner. A simple 1-3x and a finetune knob, just right for close security. They even included 4 Duracells! (Classy!) I do

I have now yet to destroy a new smart phone!

Written on Jun 12, 2025

This has become my new wallet and phone case, saving me from yet again destroying another phone. Amazingly, the SLNT RFID protection sleeve for my cards stashed inside the inside zipper DOES NOT interfere with any phone signals! I used some silicone waterproof spray on the outside of my cases, I now have 2 tan and one black, and being disabled I use Hazard's bungee cords to be able to hang the case around my neck leaving a hand free for my cane and the other to my usual knife and 1911 shoulder rig. It has been almost a year now and no troubles. Bloody great idea I needed years ago when in service and when later wearing a badge.
