Great bolt
Written on Aug 25, 2020
I live in Cali, so I had to use a Mag-Ad, and the Stern was my choice from reputation, and their reputation holds true. Great quality bolt. If you are using the Stern Mag-Ad, you HAVE to use this bolt. The Stern Mag-Ad takes S&W mags, so you are limited in mag capacity. I was using a Foxtrot bolt and it would jam pretty much every shot. Save yourself the frustration, get this bolt if you are going to use their Mag-Ad. You will also need their 11oz buffer.

Great Mag-Ad

Purchased this a year ago, had all sorts of problem with feeding. Contacted Stern, they pointed me in the right direction. If you go this route, you HAVE to use the Stern bolt and 11oz buffer. Believe me, don’t use anything else. I was using A Foxtrot bolt, that’s a no go. The Stern bolt is machined different so it doesn’t hit the mag. Moving the adapter up moves the mag up as well, hitting the face of the bolt, instead of catching the round on the way home. Going cheap-o gave me one shot and a jam, maybe two shots, but it would jam ALL the time. Changed to the Stern buffer and bolt, 200 rounds later, not one issue. This with some HST, intruders, ye be warned.

Good latch

It was a slight tight fit and the spring wasn’t about to return it to the CH easily. I took a pice if sandpaper and sanded some of the pain off that wasn’t visible, now it works like a charm. WAY cheaper than many other options. This fit on my S&W AR, but not the M&P 15-22.
