fits perfect

Written on Oct 18, 2016

Like all Hogue grips these fit perfect. I got them as I thought the stock grips on a P226 Stainless Elite were pretty thick, and wanted to improve the grip. I do not believe these are really any thinner than the stock grips. Have not taken my calipers to them yet, but they appear to be about the same as the stock wood grips, which are also built by Hogue for Sig. I think the only way to really get a thinner grip on the double stack 226 is to go to the new E2 grips.
I like the texture of the piranha. It is a bit aggressive but I like it. These seem to have better ergonomics with a slightly different shape and combined with the G10 texture I am happy with this choice. With the number of choices for color and texture you really can not go wrong with these.
I got the magwell design which fits the stock mags a little under flush, the 18 round mags are flush and I have not purchased the type in the picture. BEFORE PURCHASE, GO TO the HOGUE WEBSITE AND CHECK THE SERIAL NUMBER ON YOUR P226. Sig changed some machining recently and Hogue hasn't caught up yet. If it is a brand new gun you might need to order these from Hogue direct to get them to fit.

Didn't want to machine my slide

Written on Oct 11, 2016

Bought this mounting plate to install a Vortex venom on my Sig P226. The unit mounts in the rear sight dovetail. Simply to knock the rear sight out but REMEMBER to INSTALL a SCREW in the hole of the threaded burris plate when you drive the new little mount plate into the dovetail. If you don't do this, there is not enough meat around the screw hole and it is a tight fit, so you may deform the threaded hole by pounding on it. Fortunately I saw the tiny little note in the instructions and avoided this. The plate has four dowel pins that mate with the Burris or Venom and the sight mounts firm to the plate. I had to grind a bit off the screws that mount the plate to the threaded part in the sight slot. I have a stock P226 and this is a kit for that gun so I don't think I should have needed to do this. If you don't, the screws will bottom out before the plate is tight to the slide. So four stars for that. There is an additional hole if you want to drill and tap the slide for it up front, but I did not. 500 rounds so far and it is still tight. Blue lock tight was used. So far so good.
