Low quality. Large red streak projected next to the dot and the windage/elevation turrets have their adjustment direction etched on the removable caps, not the turrets. That was a problem before I figured out that they had the caps on my scope switched by mistake from the factory.

Reticle is crooked.

Written on Apr 20, 2023

Received my primary arms 5x and upon mounting the optic I realised that the reticle is leaned slightly counter clockwise. Obviously this makes the BDC completely useless, I mounted the rifle on a leveled bench clamp just to be sure. Do better Primary Arms!

Great alternative to binoculars.

Written on Mar 20, 2023

Takes up half the space that binoculars of the same magnification would, that alone makes it twice as likely it will be with you when you need it. The ranging reticle is usable and the size and clip are perfect for keeping inside of my duty bag on the passenger seat when I need a closer look at something. Some negatives I've noticed are that it fogs too much to read the reticle if the scope is cold before you use it because it's eye relief requires your eye socket to be right up against it to get a clear Image (this is not at all different from prism scopes or normal binoculars so i can't hold it against them, just an observation. Perhaps anti fogging wipes could help.). It's also extremely difficult to make out the reticle numbers in the dark. It'd be outstanding if the monocular utilized a small watch battery to illuminate the reticle slightly. It wouldn't need to be bright, just enough to read the numerics and hash marks against a dark background. The numbers and hashes closer too the top and right edge can be tough to read because pointing your eyeball at the edge of the image tends to put you out of the eye box until you re-adjust. Realistically it's a non issue because anything large enough to reach those numbers at range would have to be massive.

100% satisfied

Looks great, drops right in and ran about a dozen mags with a supressor on an already dirty 365. Adds a little bit more clearance to the end of your gun so if you're using a kydex taco holster, you'll probably have to take a lighter to it to soften it enough to poke your slightly longer threaded barrel through, mine worked fine after that.

Imgood barrel, inaccurate color advertisement

Written on Feb 01, 2023

Bought this for a 19g4 build. Looks like a good quality barrel but I feel the color isn't properly observable from the picture. I was under the impression that I was getting a grey or dull stainless color but I received one that is as black as an OEM barrel. Not a major issue really.

Usable mitigation for the nonrail issue

Written on Feb 01, 2023

It's made of decently tough plastic and doesn't feel flimsy once secured. The two halves line up well, hold a light securely and it actually looks pretty sharp on the gun. My biggest issue with it is that the grips protrude into the trigger guard from the back, this means that when the trigger is fully depressed, the trigger is pushed between the slot that is made by them in the guard and its kind of awkward to find a comfortable finger placement on the trigger at the moment of break, especially in single action, not really a deal breaker. Finding a holster that is not only compatible with this rail but the light you choose is also a bit of a pain. You're better off just getting an A1 with a built in rail but if you're stubborn like me, this is probably your best bet unless you can find a gunsmith to fabricate something for you.

Tough and holds zero

Written on Jan 31, 2023

I'm satisfied with it. It's only drawback is its eye relief but that is not at all abnormal for a prism optic, you'll need to mount it all the way back and take a nose to charging handle (assuming you're running an AR) position to get an appropriate picture just like you would with an ACOG. That aside it's survived my obsession with painting rifles (poorly at first which means several layers) and being banged around in my gun box intermittently as I rotate my uppers. It was about 70°f when I zeroed it a year and a half ago and remains zeroed without adjustment now, that includes winter temperature (30-ish degrees). It's also significantly lighter than the steiner 1-4 lpvo that it replaced. It's also handled a few hours of light rain on a few occasions and hasn't given me any battery life or flickering issues. Solid optic for the money.

Cheap quality plastic, special tools required

Written on Dec 28, 2022

The plastic is very cheap and thin and the seam where the two halves are joined looks pretty poor quality. I'm also pretty irritated that it requires a special "ball" style hex head to install but they didn't include even a cheap one. You need one because they didn't put a hole in the bottom that you can use to screw the handle on like a regular grip. You have to twist at an angle from the provided hole at the front of the grip which causes alot of cross threading and slippage if you don't have the key they recommend but don't Include. Looks pretty cool when it's on and is reasonably sturdy. 3 stars
