Sweet enclosed dot

Written on May 04, 2024

I’ve been using a T2 for years. I however have an astigmatism, so I’ve always dealt with blooming plants to some extent. The T2 was amazing for the fact that it was remarkably clear and had so many light level options I could find the right balance to keep the bloom minimized. In building a new rifle, I started reading up on red dot options and thought I’d try the AEMS in a green dot. The glass is relatively large and very clear, not as clear as the T2, but definitely bigger (plus the AEMS protective covers are also remarkably clear). The circle dot reticle is awesome. Having options to extend battery life is very nice; dot only reticle, and solar. These feel very well made. I have two drawbacks so far. The mount people universally have had issues keeping the hardware tight. That’s a bummer, I don’t trust it so loctite it is. The other thing is the front end glare, it’s a bit more pronounced than my T2 and it can be distracting at times. That’s all I’ve got, this is a very solid dot at a great price.

Interesting Value FFP LPVO With Limitations

Written on Feb 27, 2024

It’s not a bad optic, but it has clear limitations. My issues with this are mostly when at or over 8x magnification. You have a fantastic donut of death at 1x, paired with excellent clarity and daylight bright reticle up to about 6-7x. Really anything over this has a very limited eye relief, eye box, and clarity issues become frustrating. I don’t necessarily regret it, but there may be better SFP/FFP options in a 1-6 or 1–8 that has just as much usable magnification at the same cost or less. Potentially the best thing about this thing is it’s true daylight bright illumination.
