Minimal look, great size
Written on Mar 13, 2026
After getting my first AR (springfield saint), I decided to make a few changes. Aside from swapping out the plastic 2 piece handguard and a2 front sight, I wanted something up front to help pull it into my shoulder. I put a DFCO kung fu pistol grip and looked at their options, and while I'm sure they're great - for me it was just too bulky. I wanted something subtle, minimal looking, but worked. Enter the Arisaka Defense hand stop. While it does look pretty small on my 15" handguard/16" barrel, the function of it is exactly what I wanted without it looking so pronounced, for lack of better word. I also installed it flipped around so it hooks forward instead of acting as a "stop" and the flat part is facing outwards towards the front. If you have bigger hands, this COULD be an issue, but it's perfect for me.

Solid & easy to install!

These have to be typically sold out and on back order for a reason. When I finally got mine after 2 months of waiting, I could see why. The quality is great, feels great and while I'm not a big fan of hugely visible logos, the stamp on the back isn't that bad. Install is pretty straight forward, at least on my G17 Gen 5, it helps if you place the mag well on a flat surface, and slide the base of your handgun in at an angle (you can see where some groves sort of start on the inside of the mag well). Once it goes in far enough you just pretty much press the handgun down and make sure it seats properly. Screw isn't hard to install either - I've read a few reviews saying it's hard, and the angle is weird but idk, was pretty simple for me. Hopefully not a QC issue, but either way - really happy.
Definitely recommend an extended base pad because this thing is pretty massive
