Perfect fit on a DPMS Oracle, Premium brand and quality

Written on Jan 28, 2017

I installed this gas block height all-steel (not aluminum) front sight on a DPMS Oracle. The fit is perfect. The non-reflective finish matches the rifles finish. Locks solidly in up position. The quality of this sight is easily equal to if not actually better than the comparable Troy brand on my S&W OR rifle. Flips up into locked position easily. Flips down easily while depressing locking pin. The locking bar that anchors the sight to the gas block is full length of sight with screw centered thru sight. This design seems stronger and well balanced in its design when compared to the Troy half length locking bar. After comparison I believe the less expensive GGG sight is a better sight for the money than a more expensive Troy brand.

Great functional 3X magnifier for affordable price

Written on Sep 07, 2016

I've been running this Vortex-3T Magnifier on my AR for about 2 years. Primary application is 3-gun shooting. The length of the magnifier in conjunction with my Aimpoint PRO Red Dot fills up the available receiver rail. I found in order to obtain and maintain a proper eye relief I had to remove my rear flip-up iron sight to allow the magnifier to be pulled more rearward, closer to my eye.
The push button lock release works smoothly and easily. It locks the magnifier in the usable "Line of Sight" position or thrown to the left in the non-use out of line of sight position. With minimal practice one can quickly and thoughtlessly hit the lock button and tilt the magnifier into and out of your line of sight as needed, while maintaining a good sight picture.
It has a focus ring which once adjusted for your eye requires no further adjustments regardless of viewing range. The magnifier does display a little bit of "slack" in the pivot pin which permits it to present a slight wobble, especially when in the "out of line of sight position". However this is a nit-picking critical observation. This has not had any negative effect on my shooting ability and any "rattle" noise emanating from it hasn't been noticed during 3-gun action while running the gun.
This is a great 3 times magnifier for the price. I have turned not less than 4 other friends on to it and they all love it as well.
Last word. Vortex is an excellent American based company out of Wisconsin. Having used their custom

Still satisfied after 19 months of use.

Written on Sep 07, 2016

I purchased and installed this RMR 07 in February 2015. I mounted it on an FNH FNX 45. I have used the pistol with sight in 3-gun shoots and have run about 600 rounds thru it.
one time I had an unusual occurrence of the dot going out while shooting. Fortunately the irons are there and kept me in action. At completion of the run I hit the button and it came right back on. Another time I pulled it from the holster to find the dot had gone out. That's two occasions where for unexplained reasons the dot when out. But otherwise it has always functioned properly and that's been 98 times out of a hundred so to speak.
Once mounted which is simple and straight forward using the included hardware, adjustments to put the dot over my front iron was quick and simple. The variable brightness control is a nice feature which of course permits changes in the dots brightness depending on the given amount of ambient light during the time of use.
I have not replaced the original battery since new. Sight has maintained absolute zero since initial setting. Overall this is a nice sight which barring a couple of malfunctions has performed well. After 19 months of use if I were offered my money back, or continue using the sight, I'd keep the sight. So I'm still satisfied after 19 months of use.

Will not fit on a S&W 5900 series model 915 pistol

Written on Sep 07, 2016

I bought this sight set hoping it might fit my S&W model 915 semi-auto 9mm pistol. Sadly it is not the correct sight for that pistol. The front would fit the rear would not. However upon detailed inspection it is a high quality nice set of night sights and I wished they would have fit.
If you are reading this review and looking for a nice set of aftermarket sights for your S&W model 915 pistol I found the Trijicon SA-04 to be the ones. See my review of those sights under reviews for that sight here on Optics Planet.

This sight set fits a S&W Mdl 915 9mm early 1990's era pistol

Written on Mar 21, 2016

I originally purchased a Meprolite Novak style sight set for this pistol that did not fit. Rated 4 stars only because my gunsmith had to file a little bit on the rear sight wedge to get it to fit properly. Clearances were 5 thousanth difference. I expected these to fit as indicated without necessary filing/re-sizing. Otherwise once installation was complete in about 20 minutes sights fits perfectly, looks great, appears to produce proper sight / bore alignment. I have not yet fired firearm since sight installation, but I fully expect no problems. Very happy with end results. Thanks to OpticsPlanet for best pricing and easy exchanges.

This sight does not fit S&W model 915 9mm early 90's era pistol

Written on Mar 21, 2016

After considerable research I ended up throwing a guess and purchased this Meprolight sight set to replace original factory sights on my S&W Mdl 915. Front sight appears to be of correct size to fit, but I did not actually attempt to install it. However, rear sight dovetail wedge is clearly too to shallow and will not fit! This is a Novak style sight and will not fit the 5900 series Model 915 S&W pre-novak style pistol. I love the Meprolight brand and price, wish it would have fit.
I have since learned, purchased and installed a set Trijicon SA04 sights on this pistol with minimal difficulty. Thanks OpticsPlanet for an easy friendly exchange, and best all-around pricing.
