Beautiful andTtough

Written on Nov 22, 2023

I have not really put this knife to the test very much yet. My research suggested this steel and grind were best for me. Then, I found this beautiful knife that met those ideals. I love the look of the Olive handle and it fits my hand well. I don't see where I can add a photo but my hand measures about 3 and 3/8th inches across the palm. Probably best fit for a palm width 4 1/4 and under. The Sandvik 14C28N is a tough steel and the flat grind is reasonably tough and performs most tasks well. For me, that is general camping tasks- cutting, food prep, feather sticks. It is just a good carry knife.

Good tough knife

After much research and many rabbit holes, I decided on this Joker Nomad for my partner who is pretty rough on tools. I bought a Campero for myself. Both knives came scary sharp. To date, the Nomad has performed very well. Granted, he has only used it for a short time but it splits kindling and hacks small branches well. There are lots of videos outlining pros and cons but it's my opinion that the BÖHLER n695 with a convex grind can perform pretty tough tasks for its size. It's also a beautifully made knife. All parts are well fitted with clean lines. The Sheath is made of thick leather, well sown and the knife fits snugly. It takes a good tug to free the knife from the sheath. Perhaps I will review it again after a few years of use.
