Great case for the money

Written on Sep 22, 2022

Could have spent more money on the Pelican, but this works nicely. As others have said, the corners come up a very little bit, but it still seals, and once the rifle is in the case everything closes nicely and I don't notice it as much. I will only be using the case to go to and from the range, the rest of the time the rifle will remain in the safe locked up, so it doesn't have to be 100% waterproof. The only thing that is a bit of a downer is that it's a one-ply foam top and bottom. I made the mistake of doing a very nice cutout but then realized the rifle will just be sitting on the plastic case. So I put the foam I cut back in and it's fine. It would have been nicer if there was two-ply foam for where the rifle sits, that way you could do nice cut-outs for the rifle, pistol, mags, etc. I'm sure you can purchase more foam from their website, but at least Pelican gives you multi-ply's to do cutouts. Aside from that it's good and will do the trick.

Can't trust it..

I was first excited that the 9mm bore site fit my Glock 43x MOS. The one from GGD did not. The extractor prevented the slide from fully closing with the GGD bore site. So when the SightMark fit, I was elated, until I started using it. As others have said, you'll put it in the chamber, and start to dial in your red-dot... take it out, fire a few rounds and way off. Put the SiteMark back in, and it's not even close to where it was. I repeatedly removed and reinserted the SightMark and each time got way different results. It is not trustworthy, especially for something as serious as dialing in where rounds will go from a firearm.

For me, I'm at a loss because I have a short barrel pistol which a.) is going to have a lot of snap to it, even from a bench position, and b.) no bore site to dial in the red-dot.

Theory was excellent, execution on go-to-market fell way short.
