Wonderful knife folding

Written on May 08, 2025

Let me tell you, the SpydieChef won me over from the moment I held it in my hands.
The first thing you notice when you hold it is how comfortable it feels in your hand. The contour of the titanium handle fits very well, and the grip is surprisingly secure. Even with slightly damp hands, you don't feel like it's going to slip out of your hand. The weight is perfect—substantial enough to feel the quality, but not so heavy that it feels uncomfortable in your pocket all day. The deep wire clip is wonderful.
The modified Wharncliffe-shaped blade is where the SpydieChef really shines in terms of utility; it's truly practical. The curved portion of the blade will also surprise you when slicing; it holds its edge quite well for such a corrosion-resistant steel.
But from my perspective, the quality of the materials, the thoughtful design, and the overall performance justify the investment if you're looking for a high-end EDC knife that will last for many years. Ultimately, for me, the Spyderco SpydieChef isn't just a tool; it's almost an extension of my hand. It's a knife I enjoy carrying and using.

Wonderful large folding

An ideal knife for those who want a large knife to use for eating, really very comfortable. The handle also allows a forward grip to work with precision and comfort on the board.

Kapara. Yes

Written on Feb 04, 2024

Functionality and beauty are in perfect balance in this amazing design. An elegant looking carbon fibre handle hides a relatively long slicer that can be flicked open instantly with ease. Thanks to the compression lock the blade just drops shut as quickly and easily as it opens - while the fingers are savely out of the way. I also love the pocket friendly shape, the wire clip and the weight.

Compared to other popular Spydercos this seems more like high-end pocket jewellery and less like a form follows function hard use tool. There is no jimping for extra grip and the CF feels very smooth, so I'd rather take my PM2 into the woods for example. But it's nice to know that the Kapara could handle all the abuse that I would ever put a folder through.

The people at Spyderco's Taichung plant have really outdone themselves this time, churning out production knives in custom knife quality, which makes the price a lot more justified.
