I replaced my 8 year old VX-2 with the VX-6. The VX-2 now sits proudly on my Sig 516. I bought this high magnification scope to provide the ability to better evaluate bucks at distance; I live in a Missouri county that has a four point restriction. A friend of mine has the VX-3i with the same LR Varmint reticle and complained that it was difficult to see during low-light conditions. This scope has no such problem since it's illuminated with 10 settings. This makes laser bore sighting my A-Bolt 7mm Rem Magnum at 100 yards a breeze. I mounted the VX-6 with High 34mm Mark 4 Rings and a Warne 20 MOA picatinny rail. I haven't had time to shoot the "box" yet but hope to soon. There is a nice youtube video where a couple of guys shoot the box with the VX-6 3-18 model with outstanding results.

The scope has a nice easily turned magnification dial that adjusts much easier than my older and stiffer VX-2. The parallax dial on the left side is easily accessible and adjusted. I removed the rubber eye ring and mounted the screw-in Leupold flip up scope covers that fit OK but the main focus adjustment has no ring lock as on my VX-2. No big deal here but use care when screwing in eye equipment such as the covers or rubber ring. The turrets simply pull out to reset to zero; be careful or too much pressure will pull the turret dial all the way off. You must this do anyway if you install a new CDS turret.
