Several issues with this break.
1.) The matting shoulder on this is very narrow, when trying to time the break so it was in the correct position the shims would skirt out. Had to machine the Shoulder to give it a wider area to mate up with the rifle barrel.
2.) Attached my Gem Tech Quick Sand suppressor. First time I fired it I was hit with a considerable amount of Blowback coming from around the break, I checked the suppressor to verify it was on correctly, it was. This was not a good thing. I believe the gas was coming from where the Wrench Flats are located. There needs to be more of a continuous shoulder before going to the wrench flats. This was when I used it on a 6.5 x 284 Norma, haven't tried it on lower calibers. It could be from so much gas from the slots in the break coming back toward the barrel end.
Positive Note: When used by itself it reduces recoil considerably!
Will update when tried with other calibers using the suppressor.
Surface Finish was good. Screws and allen wrench provided. Problem with mine was one of the mounting holes was not drilled and recessed correctly on the hand guard, and one of the screw holes in Barrel nut was out of line with other and of course this is where it lined up, had to add more shims (Not Provided) and the one mounting hole that was drilled wrong on hand guard left screw head sticking out slightly. I may have got just a flaw.
Nice unit, steel construction. Slipped on barrel without having to emery cloth, (had to on others). Allen Wrench provided for set screws, not a common size. Came with new gas tube pin, lots of them don't. Couldn't beat this price anywhere.
These are what I put on all my AR's. Great feel, beats plastic hands down! Easy to install. Had these for 8 years show no wear holds color..................................................................
This is a very good generation 3 NV unit. It's awesome for viewing at night by itself, if you mount this in front of your day time scope make sure you have one that the power is 4 or less. They claim it's good up to 10 power (NOT). Once you get over 4 power it get's real grainy. My first scope was a 6.5 x 20, so I figured it would be OK. I almost sent it back. I tried out a 2.5 x 10 x 40 and this made it worth the money. I very rarely put it past 3 to 3.5 power, works best at 2.5. The IR light that came with it was good. Full moon you don't need it except to light up their eyes if they come in cover. No moon, you'll need the IR. Range is very good out to 150 yards, good out to 200 to 250, for proper identification.
