This is a solid scope built for hard use. The dot is sharp and bright and the glass is crystal clear. The duplex reticle may not suit everyone's needs but for AR calibers within reasonable ranges a simple dot does fine, for longer distance shooting a different reticle may be preferred. Compared to the VX6HD 1-6 there are some important differences. The VX6 comes with alumina lens caps and nicer throw lever while this Patrol model comes with plastic caps and simple throw lever, this Patrol model also has covered turrets and a stiffer adjustment because that's what a duty scope needs. For work or serious situations I'd chose this one. For personal use, range time, and hunting I'd spend the extra money and buy the VX6HD 1-6 model.

Overall its a solid mount but it is heavier than other options. I have two of these holding LPVO's on AR's and I torqued them to spec and nothing has moved after ~1500 rounds using the first one. The height is great for a consistent cheek weld and view through the scope using a standard buffer tube and stock.
