Very good long range rimfire scope

Written on Jun 29, 2020

The scope is typical Nikon quality! Its very bright & distortion free edge to edge. This is a long scope but not overly heavy IMO.
However, If a long range center fire scope is what your looking for, be awear that this scope has only 35 MOA worth of adjustments!
It is (IMO) perfect for rimfire long range or target work. I really like the heavy post of the mil dot reticle as well. It could work as a hunting scope, but would not be my first choice.. Heres why, first 6x is kinda high for closer shots in low light but also because the human eye (depending on age) receives the most light from a scope with a 6.6 -7mm exit pupil. So if you divide the Objective size (40) by 7, (40 / 7) = 5.7 exit pupil so on the lowest setting some folks would would consider it acceptable for hunting in low light..

Anyhow, Over all Im satisfied with this scope! It work quite well for my intended purpose.. Hard to beat Nikon in its price range.

4 star in its price range

This scope is a economical solution for those who are on a budget or just budget minded. The glass is very similar to the nikon prostaff & Burris fullfield scopes I own. (The Nikon edges the other 2 by a slight margin) I ran this scope thru its paces on a 22 WMR @ 50yrds and the scope done just great! Like others have mentioned, it does lose a little brightness at top power & it wouldn't be of much use in a low light scenario. Drop it down to 14x & it's much better and is usable there. I don't like batteries, so I chose the non lighted mil dot reticle. This reticle is fine enough for target work & It also works very well with the windage/elevation adj. The later adjustments do have a little slop! Its no high end Leupold or Nikon that you can just feel the perfectly matched internal parts.. However, it don't seem to make a bit of difference! My scope tracked very well indeed. Good buy IMO.

Very good scope for the $$..

Good glass that's nice & clear, seems to track perfectly & built like a tank.
The focus (both eye & parallax) get finicky on top power & the scope does lose a little clarity.
Mine works well up to 16x before this happens. The reticle is for hunting! It's not a target reticle.
The parallax knob is a little stiff but I wouldn't want it to be on the other extreme either! so it suits me fine.
Really, in its price range, there is nothing at all to complain about IMO.
