Prior to buying two of these, I've used 2x 900g silica dryer bags that you bake in the oven for 3hr @ 240F and are supposed to cover 66 cu-ft each (vs. 100 cu-ft on these models). While the dryer bags work similar to these, I found that it's easy to 'be lazy' and leave them go longer than you should. During the Summer months, the oven just heats up the house and is more work unless you're already baking something. On the other hand, I just recharged 2x of these mini dehumidifiers last night and it's much easier; you just plug them in the wall and check in the morning (10-12hr). These seem like a great idea in that I'll recharge them more often. If you have a smaller safe you can get away with one of these; if you have a jumbo safe or tend to open you safe a lot in the Summer, you might want to look into the Lockdown Golden Rod (that Dad uses and they also sell here) to cut down on frequent recharging. I was surprised to find out that these Remington units have a 5-year warranty; so you can't go wrong as not much is warranted that long anymore (well, the Lockdown rods are lifetime but you have to plug them in). P.S. My Brother-In-Law has two of these Remington units a few years old and mentioned to me that his still works fine when I asked him. (I wanted to be sure they'd last a while myself first).
