Great barrel!

Did a ultralight 14.5 rifle and used this barrel. It's shooting .438 (5 shot) @ 100, good good stuff.
The Standard

Come on, does what it says, does it well, easy to use. There is a reason the Rattler is the standard, even if not the fanciest (or most expensive). I'm fairly shocked at how clear the picture is @ 384. It's already been on hog duty, worked great.

I didn't even realize that it did the +/- 7 second thing until after I shot the first hog. Controls make sense, does what it's supposed to do, easy on the battery.
Great specs, meh usability...but fixable

The specs are wonderful and the image is clear, but there are issue and at least one of them is significant.
1. Takes FOREVER to boot, like 12-15 seconds. This means you have to leave it on, which means you eat batteries.
2. The menu isn't logical at all.
3. To zoom you have to enter a menu and then half step your zoom with presses with no way to quickly get back to base. This is an observation device, zoom should be a button away always, not buried.
4. The LRF comes on in full-time mode, not one shot. That's annoying to me and wasteful of the battery.
I would be cautious of recommending the device to people if you want to get field work out of it since the controls aren't logical for a device you want to use to observe.
