Nicely machined good looking piece. My concern is the rust that was all over it. Inside and out. 100% unacceptable from a company like JGF. Not sure if the Nitride was missed or just poorly done. Does mention "raw" in the description on the site but I highly doubt it should be in this condition when sold.
Paired with another manufacturers braided buffer spring it ran as expected in the particular set up. Appreciate the printing of buffer weight number and actual weight... easy to id.
If you have a Copperhead then you are likely aware of the slop and flimsy feel of the stock charging handle. While the NLA unit being reviewed here does not eliminate the stock slop completely it is markedly better along with a much more durable feel. Installation is a breeze. Packing was fine as fit and finish is very good. Charging handle is large so if you are looking to stay streamlined along the top of the upper then you may want to take it into consideration.
If you are looking for a sturdy, well built and fairly compact QD riser this is the one. Easy to adjust and stays put once dialed in. I did not give it 5 stars because of the white lettering. Not sure what drives manufacturers to splatter white lettering on top of black mounts or other dark colored parts but its obnoxious. Ghost it out or utilize something much darker.
Had zero problem installing and has operated very well so far. It is extremely quick to operate from safe to fire and back. Keep in mind that it will only handle on and off and not multi-position set ups. I would also use caution about the ease of bumping the safety into a fire position should it get jostled around and hit something. Not duty recommended. I plan on installing several of these.
Nice that these sets pop up from time to time on sale as they are affordable and nicely made. Pretty good on adjustability and seems to be made well. I would not expect to storm the beaches with this 1 its heavy, expected, and 2 its not gonna be up to Mil-spec requirements in my opinion. GTG otherwise.
Catch is the Tritium is indeed a little "under powered" in comparison to a few other brands I have experience with. The Troy BUIS themselves are just as good as the non-tritium ones, some of the best in the industry. If you are running your eye close to the rear site expect the rear Tritium to be fuzzy close in. Setting the rear all the way back to maximize accuracy between the front and rear may leave something to be desired utilizing the rear Tritium. Rifles with a longer butt-stock will benefit from these. Keep in mind the small hole on the rear does not have Tritium like the larger. Would be a waste if it was anyway but it is worth noting.
It doesn't get much easier than this to upgrade your SP5 stock front sight. Super easy install and spot on with no adjustment out of the box. Has a great night sight glow from the tritium. Very pleased after waiting for it to get back in stock. Highly recommend this unit.
