Gen 2 needed

Written on Apr 25, 2026

The concept is sound, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. How hard would it be to include the correct Allen key/hex tool needed to install this? Also, filing parts just to get them to fit is nothing new, but for a pistol grip? Lastly, the grip is about 1/4 inch too short compared to the average AK grip, made worse if you increase the angle. It’s almost like they designed this for someone with small hands and long fingers. Maybe they’ll figure it out for Gen 2.

Still Thermal Imagery is clear, but any movement of the scope blurs the image significantly.

The Hz rate of this scope (T20X) is 9Hz, as compared to the 30Hz rate of the previous T20. Packaging is confusing as the tube that it ships in will say T20 and 30Hz, but the end cap will show it is the newer T20X. I believe the image may have been improved with the newer model, but at the cost of Hz frame rate. What this affects is the image while the scope is in motion. If you are acquiring a target while both the target and the scope are moving rapidly, the image is arguably not usable. Once the scope is steadied, the target resolves itself adequately for target tracking, and the image exponentially improves as both scope and target come to no movement. That being said, I had hoped the Hz rate would be adequate to use as a scope/sight walking around a corner in relative darkness. Having flown with FLIR and ANVIS professionally in the military for 30+ years, I would say this is not suitable for walking around corners in the dark. If you're looking for that stray coyote in the field, this might work on a gun with a tripod, waiting patiently for the animal to wander into your field of fire.
