Rocichet Rabbit from United States, FL Public Profile
The 14s work well just as I had expected. The internal IR flood light is on the weak side. The image does have several decent size black specks. Dirt must have gotten inside during its build. None of these black specks are in the center of the viewing area but they are still annoying. I hope they don't grow. I guess if you don't want any specks in the image you have to pay $700 more from a different vendor. I am not in combat and hopefully my life will never depend of this piece of gear. For the money I spent I am pleased. If I were a civilian contractor over seas or something like that, I would spend the money for a little better quality NVGs.
This product does not meet the expectations that I had in my mind after researching the product and watching all the videos. At almost three thousand dollars I wish I could send it back. Unless you just have money to burn, don't make an impulse purchase like I did. The image is grainy, pixelated and sometimes stutters when scanning a wide area rapidly. It comes with no manual only a laminated Quick Start Guide and some software that I have no idea what it is for. When going on a hunting trip I would rather take batteries with me for the product rather than looking for an electrical plug or a USB port to plug the unit into for hours to recharge. I guess I was also expecting the unit to be better at distance than it is. If you want to find your cat in your yard its good to go. Spotting a neighbor standing against a warm block wall 200 feet away was difficult. If this product was $500 I would be pleased with my purchase. Thats all it worth to me.
I am a fan of Aimpoint. I have several T-1 Micro's and the Comp M4. The Patrol Rifle Optic is in the middle. Lets start with the dislikes: The lens covers suck, they are in the way and the rear one will scratch itself on the elevation adjustment cap. The battery this optic uses is weird and hard to find at the local store.
Solutions: Take the lens caps off. The battery is said to be good for several years so worry about that later.
It's not a Comp M4 but its also $300 cheaper. I put this optic on a Colt 6920. It does every I expected. One hundred yards groups, from a benchrest all in a skoal can is possible. Practice keeping both eyes open. I think it is a good optic for less than 150 yards. I guess that is what a patrol rifle was designed for.
