The construction of the ALG trigger is leaps and bounds better than any AK trigger I have seen. The trigger drops right into the KUSA KP9 and the alignment is perfect. You will very likely want to take some metal of the hammer. I took quite a bit off the face of the hammer and mirror finished all parts that slide against metal. When installed properly, this trigger will function better than most AR and Gucci Glock triggers. This has been, by far, my favorite mod to my SBR KP9. Here is how I recommend you do it:
Install the ALG trigger into your KP9. Everything should it snug and you should be able to engage the hammer by pulling the trigger. You may also notice that the safety doesn't work yet. You will need the extra pin the ALG came with so the safety can engage, but I will talk to that later.
Put the bolt carrier back into the KP9 and try to pull the charging handle. You will notice that the bolt carrier is now being pinched my the ALG hammer and is no longer able to cycle freely and is likely hanging up on the bottom of the bolt. Take a sharpie and color in the top of the hammer so you can see exactly where the rubbing is occurring.
Begin grinding the rubbing area down. It will take some time. If you don't want to spend all night on it, you may want to use a grinder. I took approximately 2mm off the very top of the hammer and smoothed it out to make an "S" shape. Keep applying sharpie, and seeing where the wear is occ
Its a good red dot and I like everything about it, except the red-dot. The dot isn't symmetrical and the bottom edge refracts as if you had a stigmatism. I am not the first person to mention this common issue with the MRO and if you contact Trijicon they will tell you that you have a stigmatism. Its too bad, really. It came so close to being the perfect American made red-dot; A title that has little in competition. I recommend buying this red-dot if the red dot is not your focal point or you already have a stigmatism, as it shouldn't change much. Also, compared to any other overseas company, Trijicon barely stands behind this product. I recommend checking out company's warranties before making a decision. It still is a decent sight and feels well constructed. Overall, if your stipulation is that you want the optic made by a real country, but you don't want to spend $800.00, then this is a pretty good option and I do recommend the MRO.
Expect to do some filing if you purchase this trigger for the KP9. The face of the hammer needs to be slimmed down to allow the bolt to cycle smoothly above it. A cheap set of jewelers files, a few fine grit sanding stones and a small vice will get the job done. After getting this trigger system shaped and polished, I'd say that it is well worth the price and feels way better that the original trigger. The pin that engages your KP9's safety will also need to be shaved down. This allows you to align the tolerance between this pin and your safety lever to a a level that has 0 play when the selector switch is set to safe, which I have never seen with an OEM trigger. Its quite satisfying. I added the extra tension spring the ALG ultimate trigger came with and I also purchased the "ALG Defense AK high Energy Main Spring". With both springs I would assess that the trigger is approximately a 4-5 pounds but could easily be made lighter. The trigger offers a smooth pull. It breaks and stops simultaneously at approximately 3mm compressed. The trigger then resets once the trigger has come fully forward. I highly recommend the trigger system. Once you get it installed properly, you wont regret it.
