Beautifully clear optics and a reticle that's very easy to center up on NRA or CMP targets. I get the same sight picture as the globe sight on my pellet rifle that I love. Although I expected some learning curve over the scope I replaced with the S-Tac, the first time out I shot just a bit under my average offhand score of 90 (89). The half-minute dot, while not illuminated shows up well against the aiming black.

Although I currently have this scope mounted on a crossman AR-15 clone air rifle for winter offhand practice at 30 meters, I am looking forward to shooting with it across the course in NRA and CMP competition due to the 2016 rule changes. I find the firedot to be an excellent aid for offhand position, and while the sighting ring in the reticle is a bit large for the national match targets, it does aid the eye in lining up the aiming black (circle within a circle). The turrets are very nicely executed, but the clicks are a bit soft. Fortunately, the markings are large enough to see without my glasses. The turrets are calibrated in MILS, which is taking some getting used to because my National Match experience is in Minute of Angle. Still, remembering that the clicks are 1/3 MOA instead of 1/4 MOA is not too difficult and when this scope eventually makes it onto one of my hunting AR's it will be very useful for range estimation. The glass is bright and the firedot adustments are easy to make.
