CO-X Gen 2+ HD

Written on Sep 02, 2016

After using it for a year I couldn´t be happier with it. I got the HD version and it´t impressive. I love looking through it, I can see everything with such a detail that I just enjoy using it, scanning the environment. With moon you can perfectly see hundreds of yards, and without it, with the great IR that comes with it, I´d say you can identify and shoot at your targets at around 200 yards. I haven´t missed a shot since I bought it. I use it with a Swarowski scope 2.5-15x56 (up to 6x you can still see very clear, up to 10x you can see good enough to shoot), and my Haenel Jaeger 308 rifle. You know, you cannot use it with bigger calibers, the 308 is the biggest recoil it can stand, but that´s good enough for me. I use it for foxes, hogs and deer mostly. As I said, I´m very happy with it, but it has a few cons too: it´s heavy (well built, which is a good thing, of course, but it adds weight to your rifle+scope), which makes it difficult to aim well without leaning on something (or I need to get stronger, maybe). The scope adaptor is just good, it loosens sometimes when you move your rifle and could make your clip-on fall, and if you tighten it too much it could break your scope (not an excellent piece of engineering). You can get dazed easily if you want to look against the moonlight (not directly to the moon, but to the ground, since it doesn´t need almost any light to run properly, any source of light will dazzle you, even a small town kilometers away, but I suppose this m

Armasight Scope Mounting System for Clip-On

Written on Jan 20, 2016

I bought this product 7 months ago (despite the bad reviews), together with the Armasight CO-X HDI, and I couldn´t be happier. I go out hunting almost every week, and I haven´t had any problems so far. I use it to join the CO-X with my Swarovski 56mm scope, and it adjust perfectly. Using a rubber ring first (which comes with it), in order not to scratch the scope, I can mount it in 30 seconds in no light conditions. The only thing I didn´t understand at the begining was that you have to remove the little metal ring from it, otherwise it won´t fit in the clip-on (you can see the little ring in the picture. It has a little screw on one side. First, I tried to unscrew it, but then I realised I had to rotate it out. My fault).

Spark CORE

Written on Feb 14, 2015

I just received my Spark CORE monocular and I am really impressed. Although I already knew it is an excellent device (I had read a lot of information about it plus all the other buyer's opinions), I have to admit that I didn't think its quality was going to be so high. I already own an Armasight Orion 5x, which surprised me too when I first took it outside to hunt (I haven't missed a shot with it so far), but the clarity and the quality of this Spark is far better. I went to the countryside with both devices, on a clearly and starry night (but no moon). I could see much better with the Spark with no IR than with the Orion with the IR810. Besides, the definition with the Spark is so good I could not believe I was using a Gen 1 device. I have to go and test it hunting, but I think I could have seen and identify a hog at 150 metres or more without any problems. Really amazing. I am more than happy with it. It has a con: its IR is not very powerful at all, and its beam is too wide. Do not expect to gain much clarity beyond 20 metres. Anyway, I had already decided to order the Armasight 810W I was recommended, and I hope I can see even farther.

Armasight Orion 5x

Written on Sep 05, 2014

After reading a lot about this Scope I made up my mind and bought it. I was looking for a good scope for hunting wild boar, but I couldn't afford a Gen2 or 3. I have used it for several weeks now and I am really happy with it. Extremelly easy to zero, I haven't missed a shot since I have it. It comes with the IR810, which is essential during nights with little or no moon. With it you can easily see your target at around 70-80 metres, what I think is amazing for a Gen1 and this price. Having said that, it has several cons too: it's really (really) heavy. If you aim and cannot find your target your arms are going to hurt very quickly. Even if you are in good shape, you won't be able to hold your cross still for more than 10-15 seconds. Although little by little you get used to it, your back is not going to thank you. Besides, the resolution is not outstanding either. When you look at a scenery with no bushes or trees, very homogeneous, you think the scope is not working, that you are not seeing anything, because you can't differentiate objects (for example when I looked at a dry stream full of rocks). On the other hand, if an animal or living being is there, you will see it perfectly, because its eyes will glow like big flashlights in the dark. This way I was able to shoot at a wild boar and a fox that were hidden behind a bush. I am very pleased with it and now I am thinking about buying a NV monocular, so I don't have to hold the rifle with this heavy scope every time I heard
