You Get What You Pay For

Used this ammo on my suppressed RPR build and it helped me easily reach 1600 yards for the first time with consistency. This ammo is on the expensive side but it’s worth it. I could’ve pushed it out for another 160 yards and would’ve made my first mile, but 1600 yards was the maximum the range that I went to could offer.

I left the range with a good dopamine rush after vibe checking those steel targets from that distance. I just ordered more and looking to hit my first mile when I try out a different range with targets that go beyond 1600 yards. I had no idea how addicting long range shooting was until I actually kept making consistent shots, and this quality ammunition made a huge difference.

I only used cheaper target practice ammo before using this and it did ok. I was able to reach 850 yards with them, but this ammo helped me basically reach almost twice that distance. I’m sticking with this ammo for my build from now on.

10 Rouns Single Stack Mag Will NOT fit 300 WM RPR

Written on Apr 10, 2024

The 300 wm 10 round magazine is shorter mag-well wise compared to the two 5 round mags that come with the 300 wm Ruger Precision Rifle. You can wiggle it off because it is loose, and you can also push the magazine all the way up to the upper wall of the rifle receiver because the mag stopper in the magwell is too far forward to stop the magazine. Other than that, it’s a solid magazine. I just welded a piece of metal spacer to the magazine to make it fit perfectly into the RPR magwell. I dont think these 10 round 300 wm magazines were made for the RPRs.

Rubber Seal Does The Job For Suppressed Shooting

Written on Mar 25, 2024

I have two of these on both my suppressed SBRs. I guess I got lucky with my batch because mine did not fall apart like what the other reviewer experienced. Silencer Co just needs to keep their QC consistent and make sure these things dont fall apart because this is by far the most effective gas busting charging handle I have. I own the radian one with the vented ribs, Geissle, and precision reflex gas busting charging hadles, but those still leak gas under the charging handle.

The rubber “U” ring does a great job sealing the gasses out, but they do tend to get shaken off after a while of use. What I did to secure it was to melt both ends of the rubber seal into the charging handle to help secure it and keep it from slowly coming off. This is a good product with an efficient and simple solution to a common problem when shooting suppressed, but it could use some refinements either in the form of a more secure rubber seal installation and maybe a vent to channel the gasses away from the shooters face so the fouling doesnt just build up in the receivers especially when shooting under rapid fire or full auto. I’d give this product a solid 4.5 considering it doesnt fall apart like what the other reviews mentioned.

Not for AR-10 with Rifle Length Buffer Tube

Written on Jan 18, 2024

This spring feels smoother and doesn’t have that usual twang like with the standard buffer spring, but one thing to note about this product is that it is too short and soft for an AR-10 with a rifle length buffer tube, which reduces its ability to slow the bolt velocity sufficiently especially when shooting suppressed. Additionally, it lacks the tension to ram the next round into battery when the rifle collects enough carbon fouling. This might work well with a carbine length 308 buffer tube but based on my experience with it at the range, tthis spring is more ideal for AR-15s. I purchased this for my 308 Super SASS build, but like i said, it was too short and soft, so I ended up moving the spring to my MK12 mod 0 which was a match made in heaven.

Soft Shooting

Written on Jan 08, 2024

This buffer is amazing. I installed this on my custom suppressed Armalite Super SASS .308 build with the gas settings tuned to eject the brass at the 2:45 - 3 o’clock position using the standard rifle length .308 buffer and a flatwire buffer spring. After replacing the standard buffer with this one, the rifle felt so much softer and much more pleasant to shoot. The buffer system basically behaved like a vehicle suspension system. The flatwire buffer spring I already had installed plus the heavier weight and hyrdaulics of the buffer absorbed the recoil well while also preventing the bolt from bouncing after returning it to battery. It also slowed the bcg speed to where it was ejecting the brass casing at the 4 o’clock position. This buffer, working in harmony with the other tuning and modifications I did with the rifle, made my suppressed (flow through) .308 recoil feel like a 5.56 in an unmodified AR. In short, to make the best and really feel the difference out of this buffer, the gas system and buffer spring must already be tuned to the rifle’s optimal harmonics.

Beta Trigger

Written on Dec 31, 2023

I got this for my Glock 19 and it worked most of the time.. at first. It did give the promised lighter trigger pull, but at the cost of reliability. I’d get light primer strikes from ammo that would otherwise run flawlessly with the stock trigger. For ammo with harder primers or when the gun is being run hard or supressed and gets a good amount of carbon fouling, this trigger performed even worse and would fail 80% of the time. Those same ammo that were manually ejected out due to light primer strikes fired just fine on the other glock I had out at the range with a stock trigger installed.

I had high hopes for this “alpha” trigger, but it got so bad recently that I just reinstalled the stock trigger. At least I know that one will work. This product could definitely use use some design improvements, or Timney could at least work on improving QC in their production since this trigger seems to be working just fine with some users .

Impressive

I got the 16” one, and was surprised with how precise the groupings were considering that it’s a carbine length gas system. The kick was a little harsh because of the shorter carbine length gas tube and the extra dwell time, but I still managed to squeeze MOA sized groupings from it. I added an adjustable gas block to mitigate the extra gas since I shoot suppressed, and it helped drop my groupings down to .75 MOA. A mid length gas system would’ve been perfect for this barrel, but a well tuned carbine length did the job just fine with me.

The only improvement I could think of that the manufacturer could’ve done for the product is the nitriding or nitrocarburizing of the barrel for some added barrel life. Besides that, this is an awesome barrel. I’d get me another one, but I’ll wait until they have a mid length gas system for their 16” barrels.

Awesome product… just not the company creating it

This was my second handguard from PRI and the product itself did not disappoint. My first one was for my Mk12 build and I got this delta one for my Armalite AR10 SASS build. The item definitely radiates quality. It’s just long enough to where it doesnt cover the gas block (rifle length) so it allows me to adjust the gas settings on my adjustable gas block when needed.

What I’m disappointed with is that PRI does not include the proprietary barrel nut wrench thats is specific to the model of the handguard and the platform it’s going in to in order to properly torque the barrel nut with. In my case, I needed a specific 308 wrench for armalite. PRI sells a different one for DPMS/KAC 308 handguard barrel nuts if you purchased a hand guard for those type of 308 builds. They do not include the forearm wrench either that you need to tighten the collar with. You’ll have to buy those separately too as if the handguard itself wasnt already overpriced. For the price range, you would expect that they would at least include those. Also, PRI itself has never responded to any of my emails when I asked about the item before I decided to buy. This product is of good quality. I’ll give them that, but it is overpriced. This will be the last item im buying from PRI.

Other than that, Optics Planet did a great job for having this item shipped sooner than expected. The original shipping was expected to be about 3 months. I got the item within 3 weeks.

Not as effective as expected

Written on Jun 16, 2021

This product does the job but didn’t really make that big of a difference. I first thought this would help ease and hasten the cleaning process, but that wasnt really the case. The usual cleaning kits can do just as good of a job. I think this tool would be more useful for bolts and bcgs with tough and heavy carbon fouling that the typical cleaning kits will have trouble with. If you’ve only shot a couple hundred rounds, this tool is not necessary for cleaning.

Ok optic but can be better

Written on May 13, 2021

I purchased this optic for my 16" Colt M4 Carbine build. I noticed that the the alignment of the reticle is slightly canted, but it's not that bad and I can work with it. I think Burris can refine this product a little more, especially the reticle design and alignment. Also, the center dot obscures smaller targets from 100 yards away. A smaller center dot would help mitigate that issue since this already has a fixed 5x magnification. Other than that, it's not a bad optic and does the job just fine. The eye relief isn't bad either and a bit better than the acog, but it's still somewhat a bit too close for comfort for me... an extra inch on the eye relief would be perfect. It would also be nicer if the magnification isn't fixed at 5x and can be dialed down to 1x, but at least it has rails where you can attach a 1x red dot sight on for CQB purposes.
