Works as designed

Written on Nov 03, 2021

Linear compensators are designed to "squeeze" the sound and concussive blast of the exiting barrel gases forward and down-range, away from the shooter and anyone standing adjacent, and this does exactly that. I recently had the opportunity to shoot this outside at a private range with a group of people standing nearby (approximately 40 yards off to the side), none of whom had ear protection on, and they all commented that the muzzle report from the 10.5" AR-pistol I was shooting was "not bad at all" compared to a 16" with conventional flash hider. One thing to note about linear comps though, they do little to reduce muzzle flash compared to a bare muzzle and almost nothing when compared with a traditional flash hider, though this is not what they are designed for.
