S&W markets good stuff,. Really nice discounted amber shooting glasses

Written on Oct 24, 2023

I doubt that S&W has a shooting glasses manufacturing plant, but these are great shooting glasses. I got the amber for low light outdoors and it was about 20%off. Frames high quality and good clear lenses without any distortion. I liked these so much I bought the smoke sunglasses version.

Disappointed at first, but after adjusting it, very cool and very good upright shoulder holster

Written on Oct 24, 2023

When I originally opened the shipping box, this was an item that I'm certain was a return. The top cardboard product label had the staple legs bent apart and was hardly hooked into the cardboard label...and there weren't any instructions. At first I was going to send it back but Bianchi/Safari makes some pretty good stuff. So after checking Bianchi's site and getting some ideas on how it should be adjusted started making sense. As I started with the leather adjustment, I was pretty impressed they used a 'molle' type weave to adjust the leather loops over the shoulder. I needed a small screwdriver to assist in unweaving the molle leather straps.I left the top one in to keep it from moving once I get a good adjustment. After a few iterations I got it to fit my left shoulder and adjusting the elastic straps was pretty easy. I was surprised at how little stretch is needed for the elastic straps that basically are there to keep the shoulder straps in place. Since this is a vertical holster I had to run my tactical belt through the holster to secure it. Once that was done, it fit and felt great.

I'm using a S&W 686 Plus .357 magnum with 6 " barrel, so this is the ultimate conceal and carry...lol I actually only plan to wear it at the range and maybe an unloaded pistol in the holster for Halloween or something.

Anyway I'm glad I didn't send it back since I got a really great discount from OpticsPlanet.

Verty confortable and was only holster I could find for my Sig P365 Xmacro TACOPS

Written on Oct 24, 2023

This holster is great. I got the #208 for my P365 Xmacro TACOPS and it fit great. I must have gone through 4-7 holsters but they didn't fit the TACACS model that is .5" longer barrel, so it was a challenge. After break-in and setting the trigger guard clamp, it works great. Holds the gun firm and won't shake out of holster upside down.

Highly recommended and OpticsPlanet had it on sale which was $20 less than msrp AND got additional discounts from OpticsPlanet RAD code.

Very pleased with this holster.

One of the most comfortable OWB holsters I've tried

Good quality magnum load with 125 grain

Written on Oct 24, 2023

This was on closeout on OpticsPlanet with free shipping. Tried a box first. I typically buy 1000 rounds to save money on bulk.

This ammo worked well and will need to try some of these in my new Henry revolver.

Great ammo for target practice

Written on Oct 24, 2023

Ammo makes good stuff and this is a good load for targets and not very expensive. Wich they made a .38 spl 150 grain...maybe they do and I'll keep looking. also Ammo brand goes on sale now and then

Not Really an Ammo Crate

Written on Oct 24, 2023

I bought this to help organize my various ammo and have been using military ammo cans that are metal and have a good seal. I thought this was supposed to be an ammo crate but on the product sticker, it says 60lb maximum. well that is about the weight of 1 military ammo can for 9mm rounds. When I first picked it up, it was so light. And when I tried flexing it for strength it flexed so easy that I wondered how the seals would keep sealed. The lid was pretty flimsy too.

So I sent it back and went back to using metal military ammo cans...which are more 'Manly Looking' anyway. lol

this crate would work for storing light things or for some under bed storage. But not for ammo.

NextBelts Rule

Written on Oct 16, 2023

I love NextBelts. Of all the tactical belts I've tired, the ratchet adjust system is great. the vertical stiffness is awesome for quick draws and the easy adjustable is flawless. When sitting in the car or needing to quickly adjust the belt after a big dinner (lol) is ssoooo easy. This model has a different type of latch on the buckle instead of the button activated. I prefer the button, but this one is fine once you get used to it.

As mentioned, NextBelt is my preferred tactical belt and actually I don't use any others. Decent price and discounted too at OpticPlanet.

Probably the most comfortable holster I've ever worn

Written on Oct 13, 2023

I've tried Blackhawk LCS, 1791, Mission First Tactical for my SIG P320 and P366 XMacro TacOps. I liked the locking and release mechanism on the Blackhawk but the kybex frame kept digging into my love handles with the release button protectors and it was uncomfortable to wear when sitting down. the MFT didn't fit my P366 but the issue was mainly the P366 Xmacro TacOps has a 3.7" barrel compared to the non-TacOps. I liked the 1791 but it doesn't have a lock system but I kept the 4-way that actually fits both SIG's.

However when I first put the LockLeather OWB on my tactical belt, it was way more comfortable than any others I've tried. I plan on doing a dual shoulder holster rig eventually and I'm going to check with Urban Carry first. My SIG's fit great in the P366 Xmacro TacOps #201 and the P320 X series in #208. They did require some breaking in and adjusting the lock mechanism but now it's a very smooth draw and locks in place just fine.

I'm really happy with Urban Carry's lock leather. At first I thought it might be Internet hype with the commercials on YouTube but it is the real deal. the leather is soft and I have high quality leather conditioner that will keep them looking and functioning great. If I had a 3rd hand, I'd give it 3 thumbs up.

Also I got these holsters on OpticsPlanet and there was 20% discount and other promotional discounts that really helped my wallet too.

Fabulous Sight Upgrade for SIg handguns during daylight...low light...not so much..

Written on Oct 05, 2023

I have a P320 X series with iron sights and recently purchased a P356 XMacro TacOPS that has the Xray sights. The iron sights with the dots works pretty good with ample lighting and the Xray needs the same. Outdoor on a brighter day makes these XRays shine (pun intended). While the iron sights are pretty good, the Xray helps me to get on target super fast. The #8 sights for this Xray kit are combat sights and although the aiming area is a bit shorter and not as wide as iron, they respond with immediate target acquisition. Actually I was surprised and pretty much blown away with that feature that wasn't mentioned in the product descriptions.

The main issue listed in the title tells it all. The Xrays are not much better in low light conditions. It's difficult to get a good bead when the green Tritium dot isn't that visible.-Also indoors during the day, if the light source is behind you, the Xray works pretty good. I even tried using a headlamp on the low setting during the day and without a good back light, the white dots on the rear sight are bright, but the green dot on the front sight is barely visible, but the white dots on the rear sight were bright enough to do a good 'even light' aiming.

So all in all, I'm pretty impressed with the Xray3 sights and will keep them for now. I will be testing some of the fiber sights. I have some of these green/orange fiber sights on some rifles that came stock with them and they work really well in low light. So I'll see how the
