I have an discontinued Lee turret press and am unable to find primer arms that work with the older model. I was hesitant to buy this product from fear of losing time removing a case from assembly, only to hand prime with something like this. Trust me, you'll still save time with this product. I've used 9mm rcbs and 40SW lee shellholders and they work fine with this product. I would highly recommend wearing a low profile glove on the squeezing hand if you are using this product; otherwise, after about 400-500 squeezes in a session, you can get blisters and rip the skin off your hand. My other issue with its design is that you need to re-tighten the screw that holds the lever spacer in place every 100 primings or so. There is a minor learning curve to using this primer properly. When using, make sure that you are slowly squeezing the handle as the primer rises for seating. Make sure that you aren't holding the priming tool at 90 degrees, either vertically or horizontally. About 45 degrees is ok. If you don't do this and monitor as a new user, the primers will flip 90 degrees and you'll end up misseating the primers. I got about 6-7 of the primers seated incorrectly my first few hundred primes until I realized that my technique was off. None of the primers went bang when I did this. I don't think I can salvage these cases or primers, so be aware of this. After I got the hang of it, I was able to employ good technique with no mistakes at a rate of about 100 primings in under 6 mi
Works as described. Its easier to just buy one for every die set that you own, that way you don't have to mess with calibration each time you want to switch calibers. I've used my first set for a couple years now, so far so good.
For the time you will save, its worth the extra cost. I was using a spaghetti strainer prior to this and it took multiples as long shaking media out of the cases. Go ahead and buy it, you won't regret it.
I used this for some Maxam shotgun/pistol powder and wasn't a fan because there must've been some static between the funnels and my powder and the powder continued to stick to the sides of the funnel. It ended up being a little messier than I wanted.
I opted to switch the original 4.25" slide on my police trade-in for this 5" ported barrel/slide for the possibility of using this for competition shooting in the future. Its a great looking upgrade, came with mounting plates and had no problem mounting my vortex red dot sight. Replacing the striker on the slide with my Apex upgrade is much easier than with the standard m&p slide since you don't need to remove the rear sights to do so (though you need a super small .05 allen wrench). The grips are a vast improvement. I look forward to trying this out on the range.
