It happens when you deal with Colt

Written on Apr 18, 2019

I want to preface this by saying that I did not buy my upper from Optics Planet, but instead received it through RSR and it was the exact same way. No "C"; no cage code... just the square forge mark. This upper actually came in a group of uppers that were marked. The general picture that I am seeing, based on my experience with countless Colt parts, is that these unmarked items are still Colt products as Colt is becoming increasingly inconsistent when it comes to markings. It is possible however, that there are third party facilities that may be making some of these parts, per the TDP, for mil contractors such as Colt and FN. There is currently an ongoing lawsuit between the workers union and Colt over Colt outsourcing the production of parts, in violation of a collective bargaining agreement, but I am speculating but believe that these outsourcing facilities probably aren't your typical facilities where companies such as PSA, BCM, or whoever sources parts from. I say this because there are examples, one in particular, of an upper being received by a military armorer (in a combat zone) through the military supply chain that was stamped with the "C" as well as FN's cage code. The only way I see this happening is if it is coming from a facility that produces products for both Colt and FN for military use. The reason I gave a 4 star rating here is that it is clear that if you order the upper here, it may not have the "C" mark which is a big deal for some people who like

5 Stars for the Price

Written on Feb 04, 2019

I have been using this scope for a few years now, and it is now what I recommend to all of my friends looking for a new hunting scope. The turrets are simple and easy to use and are great for a zero and forget, capped turret scope (even though I will sometimes dial out the decimal when shooting 500+). Light transmission is good, clarity is good (I can easily see smudges on steel at 500). I'm not sure where the people who claim poor clarity and light transmission are coming from or what they are comparing it to (maybe not using their parallax adjustment or if they breathed on the glass in cold weather before getting behind it??). Is this scope a Kahles K624i, no, but it is 1/4 the price. This past season I shot multiple deer at several hundred yards with variety of backdrops, and never felt as though I was lacking in the light or clarity department. Battery life is good at the levels that you would need for shooting at dawn or dusk... I've left mine on for a few days at a time after a few hunts but still haven't had to change the battery out. Very durable, mine gets banged around a lot and holds zero in some warne rings. I can't think of a better scope at this price range. Clear, durable, user friendly, relatively inexpensive... what more can you ask for. I have used almost everything out there. NF has been my go to on other rifles and I promise that the difference is marginal when it comes to light transmission and clarity. Giving this scope a 1 star review is a j
