I had the exact same experience as a previous reviewer. Given the reviews, I kept giving this stuff the benefit of the doubt. I finally gave up on my 6.5 Grendel upper completely until I decided to try other brands of ammo. I don’t reload, but it didn’t take long to reach the conclusion that this fort scott TUI ammo is garbage! do yourself a favor, avoid the headaches, and buy something else!!! M
I hunt hogs/coyotes weekly with a variety of different calibers. Always looking for one that was more consistent and packed a bigger punch. 6.5 Grendel(good but $$$), 300 B/O great for hogs but not yotes, etc etc. finally landed back at old faithful with some quality 55 grain ammo, acceptable but not great. Then I finally bought 3 boxes of this 75grain…..it sounds like a sledge hammer at impact. SUB MOA at 100, last time took 3 shots at 50yds to do a quick check. 2 shots in the same hole and the other 1/3” below. Less than a $1 a round and readily available at multiple retailers…..my search is over!!!
I have used just about every major brand(Flir, pulsar, ATN, Bering, AGM) of thermal scope hunting hogs and coyotes 1-2 nights every week.
Here are the pros:
Scope has an excellent sensor, the detail is top notch and as good as anything available on the market. Weight and 30mm tube make for easy fit on a bolt action or AR15/10 rifle. The eye cap is a nice size and magnetic which is nice when hunting on a humid night it’s easy to remove and wipe lens. It also does very well in humid conditions which we deal with for nearly half the year in the southeast.
Here are the cons:
Battery life is much lower than expected, but wasn’t a deal breaker just needed to make sure it was fully charged before hunting. There is no RAV as listed, still no big deal just record the entire hunt(rav can be unreliable anyways) One huge red flag for me was that they still use micro usb which has to be oriented, all the new optics are using usb c and I have no idea why they would use this old connection especially on a device designed to be used in the dark! Still I could deal with that. Here’s where the issue started, the auto NUC happens at least 2-3x more frequently than any other thermal scope I have used. Second, the new app would not connect to the scope. Just annoying when I had my nephew hunting with me….but this could be worked out with an update. The straw that broke the camels back was when it shut down and rebooted due To the recoil of my AR10 .308 on two different occasions. Admit
