Nice For Range Time Fun / Some Creative Engineering Required

Written on Jan 15, 2025

This product was purchased for a range trainer, NOT for serious use. I was very interested in the design of having an optic mounted behind the grip while maintaining an iron sight option to work with an A2 front sight post. I do like this concept and would like to see it improved. Having said that, it’s fun if you don’t mind its flaws.

1. The intended grip area does provide substantially more purchase potential than a classic-style flat top carry handle, however the metal edges are harshly sharp. Highly recommended to wrap the grip portion or wear gloves if planning to carry via the grip. The grip space only offers about three fingers of gripping potential. I feel that the handle could be .25" taller to allow for (in this case) a Romeo 5 better clearance to fit under the hooded area at the rear of the grip handle.

2. The rear iron sight post is basic, but functional enough. No real issues here as of this time.

3. The QD release levers work well enough, however the locking levers barely serve their purpose in my experience. Once the grip module is mounted to the flat rail, I used zip ties looped through the bottom of this grip module to keep the QD locking levers from working lose and unlocking.

4. The Picatinny section to the rear of the grip is at least two slots too short to accommodate a fully supported fit of the Sig Romeo 5 RDS. The base of the Romeo 5 extends about half of an inch rearward of the grip module and is unsupported. For my needs, I can make this
