Great scope

Written on Mar 14, 2016

I have many Leupold scopes. You cannot beat either the quality or the value. I purchased the VXR to replace a VX-3 that I had on my custom 308. I had recently purchased a VX-6 fire dot for a new rifle and loved the illuminated reticle for early and late shooting. WHile the VXR does not offer the range of magnification or the reset to zero adjustment turrets, it is i every other way brighter and more user-friendly that the VX-3 that I replaced. I am now confident with my 308 out to 300 yards, shooting groups slightly less than an inch. I cannot wait to get back into the woods to use this on whitetails.

Do not order for modern Browning A5s

Written on Mar 07, 2016

The mounting screws are too large for use on modern A5 models (those that use the Invector plus choke tubes). I am sure that it works great on older models, but there are currently no mounts being manufactured that will work on the newer models.

Best Leupold yey

Written on Feb 23, 2016

I paired the VX-6 with a recently purchased Remington 700 XCR in 300WSM. This is my second Leupold Fire Dot scope. I am shooting sub-inch groups at 200 yards, thanks to the added magnification and the precision offered by the fire dot. I anticipate ordering my CDS as soon as I finalize my bullet and load details for longer ranges. My only issue is that I seem to lose light capturing capacity in the higher magnifications and low light situations, but when I back down to 10x, I have no issues. Probably something to do with physics. I shouldn't be too troubled though, I am talking about the last minutes of a late hunt. I had no issues taking a deer at last light at 260 yards. One shot kill.
