Purchased from Optics Planet several years ago and eventually mounted mine on an Adams Arms piston 5.56, very happy with it overall. It has held together, clear, bright, accurate and holds zero and keeps chugging along. Nice scope for the price. Nice looking as well.
When I first purchased it I noticed it was a bit finicky about the picatinney it was mounted on. Initially I was thinking of using it on a Chiappas made .22 upper but it would not tighten down and stay in place, seemed to wander after a few dozen shots. It stabilized on the Adams Arms and has been there ever since. Smallest of cant in the scope was detected which is a result in the way the mount clamps the pic rail, that could also be why it is finicky with the pics, a design flaw. Shimmed it to correct. Ultimately a minor annoyance on a lever mounted scope.
Biggest negative is the flimsy flip-up caps. The rear one broke off on the first outing with it. A little epoxy remedied that (actually a bit stronger now) but I often remove it when out in the field, especially if letting another shooter use it.
I would not hesitate to purchase another but I hope they would have corrected the minor deficiencies since my original purchase years ago. I would easily give it a 5 star if that were so.
Trijicon awesome all the way!
Well made, accurate, unbelievably bright in the dim light of Nor-Cal temperate rain forests. It pulls in images that the naked eye cannot easily see at very low light.
Pretty good sight for the price. Only a couple boxes of .223 with it so far but it is holding zero so far. The wide-body style has a good FOV. The long-life CR123 battery type is a definite bonus (no 2032 here).
Like the NcStar Tactical Red/Green/Blue Dot Sight w/ Cantilever Weaver Mount I purchased at the same time the glass could be a tad brighter, but again, at this price point it is a minor issue.
2 minor negatives prevent me from giving a 5 for this. First off, the included caps are the stretch on type, which are okay, but flip-ups would have been nicer. I hate looking for or replacing caps I have dropped.
Secondly, while all tacticool looking, the pic rail on the left side is kinda of useless. Mount anything there (remember, this is a rather wide-bodied sight to begin with) and you defeat the both eyes open use of the sight. It has screws on it and I might remove it completely.
I would purchase another if the need arose.
I was a little dubious about the price but having used a couple of other NcStar rifle scopes with satisfaction over the years I thought I would give it a try.
First off, this is very well made sight and mount. Secondly, it worked without too much fuss. Bore sighted it and quickly zeroed on paper. After 500+ .223 rounds the zero is still on. Included flip up caps a real bonus!
If I had any complaints it would be that the glass could be a bit brighter on thru transmission, but that is minor at this price-point. I noticed this while walking in the forest at dusk with patchy fog blowing thru. Soaked it good in the rain that day; no glitches.
I like it and plan to purchase at least 2 more, 1 will be for use on an airsoft game rifle my kids use. The airsoft game will be a durability test for sure.
