I think this is a novel idea, but the user base where is really work is very limited. As a right handed shooter, I would want to have in safe mode with it extended out of the right side of the receiver and push in with my trigger finger, right pointer, to disengage it. The first problem is it works the opposite of this, i.e. perfect for ONLY LEFT HAND SHOOTERS. To disengage the trigger I have to move and use my support hand. Very inefficient compared to just using a regular ambi or non-ambi safety. I understand why they designed it like this due to the location of the detent per mil spec. It just limits its functional use. The other thing is if you have a trigger that is not mil spec or try to use it in another type of platform that may normally use AR safety switches, you will find it does fit. For example, this won't fit at all in a Ruger Precision Rifle that normally uses AR safety switches. I bought it and returned it for fitting issues. But if your a lefty with a mil-spec AR, I think you will love this part. For everyone else, skip it.
I bought my first one of these a couple years ago for an AR10 to get it to fit into a standard scoped rifle case, which is how I have been storing it since then. It is also a great ergonomic grip for an AR Rifle. I recently bought 2 more of these for the same purpose, to store 2 more ARs in regular rifle cases. My first one when unfolded had a little gap where it opens so I put a little bit of foam tape to fill in the gap. It had been very solid since then. The new ones lock up very tightly when unfolded and have no wiggle or movement when unfolded.
To install, you will need to get a 1/4-28 x 1 inch cap head screw. These can be purchased at any decent hardware store for under $1 each.
