excellent range finder

excellent range finder. unlikely to be disappointed. i've used it out to 600 yards and it's extremely accurate. it can range much farther than this. a rangefinder is like a spotting scope...buy once cry once.

well built, but no quieter than a standard buffer and spring
Written on Apr 22, 2022
sure it sounds quieter when slowly hand cycling the action, but that's not how an AR fires. on a suppressed 300 blk this provides no difference in sound. while it's well built, I cannot see a reason to justify the cost and added complexity compared to a flatwire spring and standard buffer. I know the product is well-liked but I doubt many of the fans are actually comparing this to a standard spring.

Didn’t fit my mini action

Review for
MDT LSS Gen2 Chassis System
Action sits too high in the chassis, causing insufficient bolt face contact to cartridge during feeding. Result is misfeeding. This can be fixed by upward pressure on magazine. The chassis looks gorgeous but lack of functionality renders it worthless to me. I’ve been underwhelmed by MDT in the past and again this time.

overall excellent optic, a little heavy and some quirks but great glass and reticle

Review for
Burris XTR II 1-5x24mm Rifle Scope
excellent LPVO option for your AR or other 223 rifle. glass is excellent with only very slight distortion around edges. making hits at 500 yards is easy with this optic. the reticle is very bright even in daylight. the only real downsides to the XTR II is the weight. it's a little chunky. in a heavy mount it gets ridiculous. if using for 3 gun you'll want a lightweight mount like the aero precision mount to go along with the XTR II. take note this XTR II is the 30mm tube. the other XTR models have a 34mm tube which is absurd for a LPVO. unless going for precisision long range and needing a lot of adjustment i will never understand the 34mm thing.
one other quirk is the illumination adjustment. while there are off positions in between settings if you leave them on these positions then to turn it back on you'll have to drop it back to off. so basically just keep it on the off position. it's not a big deal but sort of stupid design. it shouldn't deter one from owning this optic. be aware the eye relief is on the generous side, so much so that will need to use a recon type mount with as much forward positioning as possible. for me it's a neutral issue. i personally don't see why everyone likes such long eye relief on a 5.56/223 or even a 308. there isn't enough recoil to necessitate such a margin between eye and optic.
comparable (or perhaps better) options include the Steiner P4xi 1-4x or the Vortex PST Gen 2 1-6x. personally i would put the Burris and Steiner on similar level
