Troy Rail for G3 Troy Chasis

Written on Jan 07, 2015

Fits snuggly and tightens well. The QD sling attachment is a nice touch. Seems to be better quality than most add on rails. Rail holds firmly with use with a angled fore grip. A bit pricey, but worth the quality.

Troy G3 Rail on PTR91

Written on Dec 22, 2014

I put this rail system on a PTR91 18" GI Model.

Fits very well and am amazed at the way it allows heat to dissipate. Also with the optional rail(s), you can have any type of accessories you want. It looks phenomenal too. But the main reason I wanted it was for a top rail for optics mounting. It is perfect for the top rail aspect. Has held zero for several hundred rounds and even picking up the rifle by the scope a few times. Very impressed with this aspect.

I ran into a couple of issues. First the retaining pin for the front of the handguard will not fit all the way through. The Troy handguard has a recessed area for the pin to fit, but it is too small for the PTR91 pin, this may not be an issue on a HK. The main issue is the screws to attach the top rail to the handguard. The first few times I charged the rifle after adding the Troy system I realized a good portion of my knuckle was on the front nut. It protrudes right into the area where you rotate the charging handle up, but the nut is not flush and will catch your finger, especially when you pull back hard and fast. I was able to replace the charging lever with an extended lever. To avoid profuse bleeding you will probably will need to dehorn the nut or get the extended lever. All these issues may be particular to me and/or my rifle though and I would purchase it again knowing all this.
