MUCH better than stock

Written on Jan 19, 2016

Let me start by saying that the current photo shown for these sights is incorrect. They look to be sights meant for a Mk.III Ruger. These sights (#70969) are direct replacements for the stock Heinie sights on the Taurus PT111 Millennium Pro (NOT G2). With that out of the way I must say that I am NOT a fan of the Heinie sights. At 25 feet away they were consistently 4 to 5 inches low. I did some research on how to use them but I just could not get used to them. I found that these Williams sights are MUCH more to my liking. Once I had them zeroed in I was dead on target with every shot.

A few notes on their installation...
* When removing the stock rear sight you must completely remove the set screw that holds it in place. Simply loosening it will not allow you to slide the sight out of it's dovetail.
* The front sight was a considerably tighter fit than the rear. If you do not have a proper sight pusher tool I would recommend taking them to a gunsmith to do the job. If you do have a tool it may still be necessary to run the bottom of the dovetail over a sharpening stone to loosen the fit a bit.
* The front sight sets higher than the stock sight and it tends to snag in the nylon holster I have which was needed to allow for the gun's ArmaLaser TR11 laser sight. Hopefully the leather holster offered by Taurus will take care of that problem.

Makes a great scout scope

Written on Jan 15, 2016

This scope's long eye relief makes it an ideal scout scope for my 30-30 Winchester. This is the first scout scope setup I've ever tried and I couldn't be happier with the results. Took it to the range earlier today and once I had it zeroed in I was shooting nice tight groups at 50 and 100 yards easily.

Mostly good with one exception

Written on Dec 28, 2015

Installed the TR11 on my PT 111 Mill. Pro without a hitch. Laser installed easily and looks stock. Took it to the range and got it dialed in after a few shots. Fired 30 or 40 more rounds and the laser went dark. Figured it was a dead battery so I installed a spare to no avail. Took the gun home and removed the TR11 to send in to Armalaser for repair. While doing so I noticed something odd. The laser would not power up with the battery cover installed. However when I would hold the battery in place with only my finger it worked perfectly. I contacted Armalaser and spoke to Bailey and explained the problem I had. She was very professional and courteous on the phone and told me to send my TR11 in for inspection. In a few days she called and explained that there was a bad solder joint on the circuit board and that it had been repaired and that my TR11 was on it's way back to me. The weather has been awful since getting it back so I haven't had a chance to take it back to the range. So long as the repair holds up I expect the TR11 to work as advertised as it did before the solder joint failed. The customer service at Armalaser was top notch and I have no problem recommending this product to fellow PT 111 Mill. Pro owners.

Won't work on RRA LAR-15

Written on Oct 02, 2014

I was really hoping this would tighten up the fit between my RRA LAR-15's upper & lower. Once I got it trimmed down to the thickness I needed it made the upper & lower so tight that there was no way to remove the TD pin by hand. And I'm not about to carry along a hammer & punch everywhere I go when I'm out in the field. By the time I got the wedge trimmed down enough to allow me to remove the TD pin by hand it no longer held the upper & lower together tightly. NOT recommended.
