Has some shortcomings, but does the job with a little work.

I bought this scope for a 16" AR-15 in .223 Wylde. It's mounted in an Aero ultra light mount. I like red dots in certain applications, but with this rifle I wanted the flexibility to engage targets to 500 yards with practical accuracy. I'll start with the problems - the turrets are a little mushy, but functional. I didn't expect super high quality turrets for this price range, so it's expected. The turrets do adjust nicely with a center mounted spline type screw on the top versus the side set screws that tend to strip out. The next problem was that the rings that display the zero point dot on the scope came loose after about 15 rounds. Apparently they are just glued in. Mine didn't stay that way. I was contacted back by Athlon right away and they said they would make it right, but they would just glue them back in. I was looking for a more permanent solution, so I simply staked them to the body of the scope with an automatic center punch. They haven't moved since. Another small gripe - I never have to adjust the ocular on my scopes for my vision. I just turn them all the way in and they're perfect. That wasn't the case with this scope and it kind of annoyed me. Now that's it's adjusted correctly I'm fine with it.
So the pros - the turrets actually seem to be really reliable. I got expected results when dialing while shooting and a backyard tape measure tracking test showed almost perfect tracking. That alone is worth the price of admission. The reticle is very good and SFP i

Simple, Cheap, Effective

This is my new favorite stock design for the AR-15 platform. The length of pull is very similar to a collapsible stock in the 2nd notch or so. This is where most people run collapsible stocks and the FCS should match most bodies from the mid 5' range to 6' plus. The stock is sturdy, attaches very easily (it's about a 40 second job), and of course matches your PMAGs and other Magpul furniture. The only complaint for some may be that there is not an integrated QD cup. There is a spot to add one, but it will add 50% to the price of this stock to do so. That being said, it has two sling loop cut-outs and both work just fine. I originally bought one of these to just give it a try and see what I thought. I now have five AR's with this stock and it works just as well on an SBR as it does an "SPR."
