I like them but . . . recommend - a guarded 'Yes'

Written on Sep 24, 2020

Well, they work, but not in daylight of any shade. I first tried them in regular sun (Arizona) but within a shaded environment, but they wouldn't work. Then I tried them inside my garage and they worked, but not when I lifted the door - without the sun shining through - they failed again. So, I used a fairly deep cardboard box and painted the inside black mat and again tried them outside in the shade, but again they did not work.
I guess the only way to use these laser targets is in late evening or indoors - if you have sufficient space to make it worth the practice. I tried them outside at dusk and they worked fine until it got so dark I could no longer identify the target, the red target part is very hard to distinguish in low light.
For me they are a novelty, but to use them for any worthwhile practice, or just a evening's enjoyment with friends, they are not much good.
All the above is using a G-Sight laser training 'bullet' in 9mm. I had ordered a .223 cal training laser but I have since cancelled this as it would never work over any distance where the target was visible and, for me, there is little value in rifle training over 20 to 30 yards.
Correct me if I am wrong as I so wanted to like these targets.
