Good solid reliable scope.

Written on Aug 29, 2014

This is a well built scope that's very user friendly. When you take it out of the box the first thing you will notice is it is not light! It's built like a tank. That's what I want in a tactical scope. The vortex delivers with rock solid very positive clicks on the turrets. The zero stop feature is very handy and can keep you out of trouble if you lose count of clicks or how many rotations on the turret you've gone. Compared to a mk4 leupold the vortex is slightly more critical for eye alignment. The vortex doesn't have quite the resolution compared to a mk4. I'm splitting hairs here as these differences are very slight and arguably not worth discussing considering the several hundred dollar price difference for a comparable mk4. The MOA reticle is simple and very effective. Each line is 2 MOA making fast aiming at long range easy if you don't have time to dial in your turret. The reticle is calibrated for use on 14 power. The magnification dial has a distinguishable notch/click you feel as you turn it making it obvious when you are on 14 power. Long story short you don't have to look at it to know exactally when it's set to 14. Overall the scope is very impressive. I was sceptical to try something new but I'm glad I did. Optics planet offers great prices too which always helps.

Good looking and robust

Written on Aug 29, 2014

Smooth lines, strong, and robust rings. Some folks shy away from vertically split rings but once you use them the lightbulb comes on. They are easy to mount, look great, and are bullet proof for strength. I've used warne mounts and rings since they were in clackamas Oregon. They build a great product at a reasonable price.
